Greetings New 6680 User Fustrated By Sync!!

Morning all, picked up my shiny new 6680 on Orange yesterday, and have brought it into work to sync my contacts & diary, but am having problems.

I am using PC Suite 6.1.012 which originally came with my 6230. It has worked well with my 6230 and I have created a connection to my 6680, but in the phone selector section my 6680 is 'greyed out' so i cannot select it and therefore sync.

Can you guys give me any advice as to where im going wrong?

Also read on another post on here about the orange software being a bit dicky on these, for instance when i get a missed call or a new message the only notification i get is a little 1 on the left hand side, no big message on my screen like the 6230. Is this normal??

Im sure im going to be a big user of thei forum as I am dying to get some apps on this this especially an msn messenger service!

Cheers

Andy

PS* another thing, i have a 256 memory card which i want to use but the 6680 wont recognise it? do I need to format it in a special way? ive formatted it on windows xp to FAT 16 (well the options were FAT or FAT32 so i reckon its FAT16) but the phone still wont see it??

The latest PC Suite version you can get from http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite

To use a memory card in the 6680, it must be (nothing else works) a Dual-Voltage (DV) RS-MMC type card (also called "MMCmobile"😉.

Dual-voltage cards supports operations using ~1.8V or ~3.3V. Older phones use 3V technology, newer Nokia phones (6630, 6680, 6681, 6682, N90, N70) use and support only the 1.8V range. Dual-voltage cards work in both old and new phones. Older single-voltage (3V only) do not work in the newer phones.

For MSN Messenger connectivity, buy an app like IM+ or Agile Messenger: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/shop/

thanks for the reply mate, ill try the latest version of PC Suit and let you know how I get on.

looks like ill be selling my mmc cards on ebay & buying another!!

cheers

installed the version of pc suite that came with the phone ( 6.5) and it works a treat. also checked out the dual voltage issue wioth the card, and thats what the problem is! scouring ebay for a bargain as we speak!
