9210i

What I've heard is that it's got 16Mb or SDRAM, and that the 206Mhz Processor (that's been slowed to about 50Mhz) will be speeded up.

I've also heard that it will be available Q1 2003

My guess would be Q2 2002 for 9210i and the 9290 to be released with the upgraded hardware.

By Q2 2003 I would expect a brand new device with GPRS (or even true 3G) bluetooth and lots of other goodies User posted image

As always pure speculation.[ This Message was edited by langdona on 2002-01-10 1651 ]

Hang on, are you saying my communicator has a CPU capable of running at 4 times the speed it's going at and I'm waiting when it's being slow? Anyone know if I can clock it back to it's correct speed of 206MHz, that should solve a few speed issues.

All of the above (and what I'm about to type) is heresay, I heard it and now I'm saying it, but I have no proof. Aparantly the CPU had to be slowed down because of memory addressing problems - the same (or similar) problems that meant they could only put 8Mb SDRAM into the phone. If the rumours about the 9210i are correct then they have obviously fix the problem (or found some sort of unstable fix for it).

Although it would explain why for some strange reason Nokia choose not to say what the clock speed of the ARM-9 CPU is. If true, imagine what a full speed communicator would be capable of compared to a pocket PC that needs a 206MHz CPU and 64Mb ram as standard User posted image

/me waits in intense anticipation....

I don't think you'd need all that to beat a PocketPC.

I always found it remarkable how my humble Series5 and 5mx always seemed to perform better than my late Cassiopeia... and at a fraction of the processor speed.

Symbian is definately top in my experience, but try telling that to Microsoft fanboys User posted image

Couldn;t agree with you more - its why this site got created. There are very few Symbian related sites - All About ER6 is my humble effort - it is 9210 focused because that's the available product but will include others later.

That's not what I meant, more how much more powerful than a Pocket Windoze Luser's palmtop the Epoc 6 one would be on comparable hardware. 64Mb ram and a 206Mhz CPU, I can see Epoc 6 ports of Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament.... User posted image

Then again as a business tool, what business app is going to need that spec machine unless you are running vast database querys.

/me goes to play in his dreamworld. User posted image

Guys anyone know what the largest capacity memory cards that i can get for the 9210 and (where )

Also --

Is it posible to get navigation on the 9210 ?
Is it possible to place passwords if someone else opens the phone ?

All Answers welcome

Largest MMC currently available is 64Mb available from lots of places at varying prices - just do a search for them.

You can connect a GPS to the 9210, but it just displays basic info (at the moment).

Yup, system lock in security in control panel.

Actually I think City Maps accepts a GPS input, and there's software from Yellow called GPS Locator or similar (I'm not sure its available yet though).

Thats should be good for GPS.

Biggest MMC currently is 64 MB soon to be 128 MB

Well, it's rumored that Hitachi in Japan has already entered its 128Mb MMC into the Market since last October. As in Taiwan here, 128MB MMC is soon to be available in one month.
