ToDo - Manual Sort ??

2 replies · 3,829 views · Started 14 August 2005

Hi all,

Just started using the TODO part of Calendar and in my ToDo list I have chosen the method of sorting as MANUAL..

Can anyone tell me how I can actually sort my ToDo list items manually? .. there is nothing in the user guide or in a quick search of these forums

Hi Toby - I would say manual sort is simply an alphabetical sort order - don't think you can choose the order other than that. I have a 9300 and find it quite slow to deal with editing and re-ordering to-dos - is that your experience on the 9500? I know they have the same processor so should be the same. Only thing that annoys me about the communicator - processor speed. Also, I not you can't synch multiple to-do categories that you may have in Outlook!

Hi Wadner, OK, I got it "sorted" tonight.... the ability to do a manual sort is simply done by "cutting" the todo entry in question and then pasting into your desired position in the list ... It is hard for me to get used to the logic of how to do things on the 9500 instead of the Treo650 I wasusing til last week..

As far as the speed issue is concerned, I believe it is mainly to preserve power and prevent battery drain. I come from using palmtops that could exist on 2 AA batteries for several weeks before change was required. Ifyou want more powerget a mega cpu palm size unti - like an HP Ipaq etc.

If you want to get dual use from 9300 and outlook - just devise a simple workaround - such as all items in say your Shopping todo list may start each entry with "S and then a space, your holiday todo list may start all entries with "H" and then a space - this way you can get outlook to sort on the text elements.

For my own sins, If I can't find software to work how I want on this platform, I shall write my own small web apps using PHP and MySql ... that way, I can enter data from any PC, from the 9500 and overcome and sync headaches .. if useful enough, I could release versions to the 9*** community too.... food for thought.
