This thread included a poll: is the 6260 a much better phone than 6600

hi everybody,
i have a nokia 6260 i have got 3 problems for which i could use your help.

1. how do you play video files in mpg, or wav formats on a 6260. is there a player that can be installed on the phone or does one have to convert these files into avi or 3gp formats and then play them on the phone.
😕 😕
2. how do i send an application or a .sis file present on my 6260 to another phone. the option of sending them over bluetooth, mms or infrared is not possible because that option is not present on the phone. only video and audio files are recognised to be sent this way. so, how do i perform phone to phone transfer without involving a computer. ( heard something about object transfer )

3. i cannot send or recieve a video file larger than 5 mb using bluetooth because the phone always says- not enough memory, task cannot be performed - even though there is 200 mb free memory on my mmc card. apparently, bluetooth transfer uses the phone memory, which is limited. so, how can i change it to use the mmc memory instead. ( heard something about msdrivee )

i will be greatly indebted if you can provide any answers or links.
thanks a lot ---------- rocky4

There are dvd player softwares for the S60 series. Witch you can play mpeg files. I guess. Wav can be played with realplayer, or as a ringtone.

To send files you should get a better file manager like FE explorer, and there is the options : send by bluetooth . But you have to rename the extension because of copyprotection. .sis to .si or whatever.

3rd question hasn't try yet.

Firstly,
wave files play by default, and rather than playin avi, u should convert to 3gp

2. Use a. Nokia file browser (part of pc suite) and dump the sis on ur mem card,
b. browse to the location with File Explorer (FE) and chose the file. Then chose send via >

3. That is because ur phone has just 8mb memory or so. use nokia fone browser and dump the large size files onto ur card starit away.. (i thnk it shud work)

Thanks, jack 76,
the file explorer worked well and its actually freeware. there are two dvd players for series 60 phones by makayama software and viking games and both do not play wav or mpg files. the real player on 6260 also does not play wav or mpg but real player on other series 60 phones does play wav files and this is incompatible on a 6260. really strange.
