You can't really "remove copyright" (simply because "copyright" isn't a physical/technical thing to remove).
However, to leave the semantics, the phone has a built-in feature called "Closed Content List" (CCL) that prevents you from forwarding/sending certain types of files.
In some cases a "workaround" is to rename the file extension, but then the receiving side may or may not be able to use it (especially, if it doesn't allow renaming it back, or if the receiving device has no other way of figuring out what it is).
In some cases even more technology is being applied; the content is encrypted using a mechanism known as DRM, Digital Rights Management. DRM can introduce additional levels of content protection, such as forward-locking (result is similar as with CCL above).
All this technology is built-in to the phone ROM (Read-Only Memory), which is not changeable by the phone user.
ok. i already knew it but ill would like to learn what extension are able to use instead of .mid or .mp3??????????????????
thank you.
suprisingly files that i load onto my phone via bluetooth get copy righted, when i try sennding them to others i get this error saying protected files cannot be sent..
Any idea?
It is the "Closed Content List" behaviour I mentioned above. The files itself are not touched in any way whatsoever, but the phone has an internal list of file types that can't be forwarded further.

I'm not so about the files not being touched at all and it only going by filetypes... The files you put on your phone are just like the files on your computer, they have properties which can be changed in them to make them act differently to others. I would have thought the copyrighted files would have a bit set in them to let the phone know they are copyrighted?
I am [sure].
If the files are really protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM), then they are encrypted when stored on the phone (and decrypted when used, if there is a corresponding license on the phone).
However, the Closed Content List (CCL) only looks at the file name extension and decides whether to allow to send it or not. The file is not (need not be) touched/changed in any way for that. I.e., not bits or bytes set for that. (And no possibility to change the CCL or applications in ROM that check it).
So, umm how do i forward ringtones / sis files
I remmeber using FE once to find the sis and fwd it, the second time i tried, it didnt work.
and my midi's say content is protected, so i cant send midis via mms or bluetooth.
I'm having the exactly same problem.
Actually, i can send .sis and .jar files before that.
But i dun know why my phone suddenly changed and it couldn't send them anymore.
Izzit possible that the CCL in my phone will change the list automatically?
If you have a 6600, then you probably had the firmware updated (the original didn't prevent sending of some file types, but newer ones do).
SIMPLE !
Just rename the file which you want to send over BT.
Use FExplorer (www.gosymbian.com), I use FExplorer v1.14b for this ...
go to Options/File/Rename and rename the file to xxxxxxx.yyy to xxxxxxx.yyy.TXT
(add ".Txt" to the end of the file name)
after that renaming you can send your files as you wish and whoever you wish 😊

Its not an issue, it is a feature. Yes it can very annoying (especially if you own more than one phone). It's is also blanket, so even freely distributable files will be locked down.
N/A is 100% right, the limitation is built into the software (i.e. it will not allow certain file types to be sent). Depending on your phone it will have more or less sophisticated ways of checking what file type a given file is.
There are some files that are / can be encypted and as N/A says these come with certificates (look in the tools or similar section of your phone for an app that stores these), but these aren't very common yet (probably start to see them become more common when we have WMV files on the phone using DRM).
You can expect more of this sort of thing in the future.
Its been happenin to me with the installer of FE and with a couple of midi/mp3/wav ringtones.
Im tryin to send it to a frnd of mine who stays at a hostel and duznt have bluetooth for his pc there.
OHHHH !!!
For sending xxxxx.SIS file to other device, Just rename that extension to xxxxx.SI .
.SI Extension doesn't need to renamed again 4 installing. Working on my Nokia 7610 !
