Apparently, third party MP3 player do not work properly on the X for some reason. However, if you're looking at using your X as a music player, have a look at OggPlay (http://symbianoggplay.sourceforge.net/S60NonMMF.html). Download the S60-Non-MMF-devel version, the stable one does not work properly on the X. OggPlay can only play Ogg files so you'll need to convert your music to the OggFormat first. You can use the free CDEx application to do that (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/). The nice thing about Ogg files is that they are half the size of MP3 files for the same sound quality. Plus OggPlay is skinable and some very nice skins are available for it.

I don't quite understand what the problem is. All Java games for mobile phones are targeted at J2ME and the X supports J2ME. It even supports the Nokia-specific J2ME APIs so it is probably compatible with more Java games than other non-Nokia phones. There are literaly hundreds (maybe thousands) of Java games that run just fine on the X. The latest firmware upgrade did solved a few bugs in the X Java implementation making it even more compatible. When looking for Java games, the X may not be listed in the compatibility list. Just say that you have a Nokia 3650 is this case, it should work just fine.
However, if you want to play games on your X, consider trying native Symbian games such as those by nmprod (http://www.nmprod.com/Contents/EVersion/Products/PDTIndex.htm). These are a lot more impressive and enjoyable than the vast majority of Java games.

Yep, the X's screen is not that bright. But have you set its brightness to ultra-bright in your profile settings? That improves things a bit. The default brightness is indeed laughable.

You can see its effect in the camera application: the camera viewfinder refresh rate is impressive compared to other camera phones i've had the occasion to try. Appart form that, i honestly don't know what this chip does.

Most symbian applications compatible with the Nokia 3650 are also compatible with the X. Look for symbian apps on http://www.handango.com for example.
Have a look at this page http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/sendox.htm that contains lots of tips to make the most of your X.

No, J2ME 2.0 is only supported on symbian 7.0 phones (the X is running Symbian 6.1).
very nice rundown, elp - very nice.

Have I won something? :burnout:
Um...nope!
Grab the latest 1.0.7 version of OggPlay and keep an eye out for 1.0.8, coming soon! QA within the OggPlay team is a strange thing: our unstable releases are not unstable, far from it in fact 😊

Jeez, I got 1.0.6 only a couple of weeks ago and I'm already 2 versions behind!
