is it possible to entirely reset the phone? that includes deleting 3rd party software and restoring everything as it was when it left the store. that is, if you happen to screw everything up by installing a buggered app...

thx...

Hi J2theIZZO:

How do I do this *#7370# ?
Suppose, I sart my phone. Now press *#7370# , all the keys one by one?....then do I have to press anyhting like OK or something? and after pressing *#7370# , I press 12345 ?
Can u give a step by step procedure? I don't wanna take risk with my precious 7650 😃

Yes, everything.

You type this from the main screen, you don't have to press anything other that the keys in sequence one after another. It will then ask you for your lock code, 12345 is the preset lock code unless you've changed it since purchasing the phone.

You understand that this code is only to be used if you want to restore your phone to factory settings (NEW!!) you will loose EVERYTHING, contacts, pictures, software....EVERYTHING.

Hello PRLYago - I hope you won't mind if I hop-in to your thread 😊

I'm interested with this topic and would like to ask J2theIZZO related question.

Hi J2theIZZO,

If the phone is showing "System Error" message - do I need to reset the phone? I'm asking this because I've been receiving System Error message after installing some free apps 😞

Removing the free apps will continue removing it and no system error but noticed that my phone restarted by itself once today 😞

I've back-up my contacts, images and apps using Nokia PC Suite. If after I reset the phone, can I transfer the back-up contacts, apps and images from pc suite to phone?

sorry for being a novice 😞

The "System Error" messages you are getting may just be down to the compatibility of the programs you are using with the firmware on your phone.

Or if these programs are still at Beta stage or early versions there maybe certain bugs in the software.

As for your phone restarting, I have no idea unless your Sim/Battery was removed and got knocked back into place (Unlikely) or your phone crashed in which case it will auto restart after a certain period of time.

If the message do not directly effect your phone in bad way then I wouldn't reccomend the Hard reset as it is unlikely to change much if you re-install the applications that first caused the problems.

Having said that, if you do want to restore factory settings, it is reccomended that you backup everything you want to keep using Nokia Suite first.

I hope this answers the majority of your questions if a little vauge.

Izzo 😃

I have v3.16 dated 15-08-02. I think it's more on bug with the freeware apps 😞

yup.. it's unlikely coz this phone is only 12days old and i always keep it in a proper place.

I guess, I have to stay away from freeware apps from now on and I hope no more restarts coz if it restarts again by itself... got no choice but to reset it 😞

Yup! I backed-up my contacts, images and paid apps using PC suite 2 days ago before system error messages appeared and before the phone experience "restarts".

Thank you so much IZZO for your quick and helpful response.

Be warned! I did this on a phone and it started showing the "Start up failed. Please contact reatailer" message.

Got it exchanged real quick! 😃

Did you have the phone plugged in to the charger at the time or a full battery?

It may have got half way through the format and lost power....not a good thing I can tell you :-?

It has full battery. I don't recharge any battery inside/directly to the phone. I bought a desktop charger and 2 extra batteries.

Thanks again 😊

this happend to me once as well. i was playing ExBubble, accidentaly press the end call button (i think i didnt end the game properly) then i just saw my phone turning all white! then it restarted! nothing bad has happened after that so far, but that occurence almost freaked the hell out of me!!!

Jordan, any ideas why the phone restarts? i know u already said u didnt, but the scenario i explained might be able to bring out some new ones.

Hi seanmiguel,

what happened to you is maybe because you "mistakenly" press another keypad while playing.

Over here, I'm in front of my computer... my phone is on top the PC table (also in front me) doing nothing with the phone... the phone is "on" then I suddenly noticed a light from the phone (no sound) and when I grabbed the phone.. it simply restart by itself 😞

The System error that I received happened earlier than the "restarts". Got that system error message after installing freeware games.

Today..the LCD of the phone seems blurred... 😞

I think something wrong with the hardware? I think time to bring to Nokia Center.... it's strange that a 12 days old phone will act like this.
