sending files over 4.5mb phone to phone

hi there, i've just bought a 3230 and so far im quite happy with it. i was lookin for advice on how to get the best out of it and came across this site. its already answered alot of my Q's but i have one remaining;

how do i transfer file phone to phone via bluetooth?

i can do it from my computer to the phone using PC suit 6.6, but when i try to transfer file from another phone the 3230 tries to save it to the phone and not the MMC, and so come up sayin "not enough memory" which is now gettin annoying!

there has gotta be a simple answer that im missing

thanx

Yes me too wanna to know how it works.

Naturally any file transfer between phones has to end up somewhere, for it to end up on the MMC it needs to first be collected as one large file and then written. The 3230 has about 5meg of free memory if you clear it all out of junk, and although setting your SMS settings to the MMC card any incoming file must first end up in the phone memory. That is how i would expect things to happen anyway, unless you can directly tell where to save the file the phone must handle it itself and does this with the Message system. There is little i think can be done to counter this unless someone knows of some kind of FTP software over bluetooth which would allow you to write direct to the MMC. Otherwise its a limitation of the memory and something you will have to live with. Should you end up with files in your SMS box you need to save and can not, use a program called Forward to move these files or as it says forward them to someone else.

Duke.

PS, this is from my experiance of processors, degree course work, pic programming understanding and how many operating systems handle incoming files, it is NOT based on the internal workings of the symbian system, which may have a better way of doing it, but i some how doubt it 😉

But I got the solution at the end! Had this question at another forum and got this answer: Yes just get msvdrivee (google for it it's just 5kb something like that), transfer it to phone, install it, launch it once then uninstall it and now all the files are directly received on mmc 😉 So now I can transfer big files to the Nokia 3230😊

cool so it does work, only questions i'v got are, why are you wanted to send such big files between phones and do you need your bus pass waiting for them to transfer? lol

Ps for those not understanding the above, in the UK old age pensioners get a bus pass at retirement, hence the LONG wait 😉
