i need help.
my 6630 keeps giving me this message even after i've deleted almost all messages/images/videos.
in fact the memory used is only 18mb and there's 43mb left.
"Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first"
is it ok for me to try and do the appended suggestion?:

3.When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons
Note that you shouldn't switch the phone off or remove the battery when performing either of these operations, and it's advised that the handset has a reasonable amount of battery charge before performing a format/reset.
Be aware that the battery is full and you completely finish this action. Remember that you lose all data and settings.
ok what the phone means, is that your ram is all used up, close some programs, by pressing the hang up button programs arent closed, they are just hidden. press and hold the menu button and it will show you the programs you have open, you must click the exit button for the program to actually exit. then u will have enough ram. and the phone wont complain
Try SysMan by Symbianware. I transforms the whole into a taskmanager. You can kill apps, free memory, see the current memory status - just with one click.
As well you can assign applications to a shortcut of your choice.
I like it very much.

hmmm and where can i get this SysMan?
sorry, am not that IT savvy and thus the silly question 😊
Sysman should be available at www.symbianware.com
also TaskSpy does a similar thing.
yeah i was going to say taskspy its free, and the best one from my experiance. i agree with rafe

noted. tx
anyway, i've tried your suggestion and it doesn't work.
the phone still gives me this message everytime i send/receive a text message:
"not enough memory to receive message(s).Delete some data first"
i've switched off the phones a few times for at least 10 minutes each and i've run out of ideas how to solve this problem.
would appreciate your help.
tx
Can you see what is consuming your RAM using Taskspy / Sysman. You could have a program starting up automatically which is consuming a lot of memory. If that is the case you would need to unistall it.
Its a bit difficult to diagnose these problems by remote.
If you get really desperate one solution would be a hard reset to put everything back to factory settings

:icon14: to both themafia69 and rafe,
sorry for the late reply.
anyway, the first suggestion really worked.
had to wait for a few days for it to be effective i guess.
no irritating messages flashing on the screen anymore.
thanks again for both your help.
cheers!
