mute sound

Is there any way to mute or reduce quickly the sound from an aplication in 9300?

One thing you can do is change the profile to silent.

Thanks but your sugestion didnt work. I was talking about the "pda" sound not from the phone sound.

I will give an example:

I need the alert on to agilemessenger to be notified when arrives the 1st message. After that i dont need the sound so loud, so what i want is a short cut to reduce or mute the sound in the pda, since the application does no support it in a easy way.
