Please Help
Recently purchased tom tom mobile 5 for my nokia 6680, and have been happily using for some weeks....until yesterday.
Selected tom tom icon as usual, however unusually the start up menu appeared with language selection etc.. then as I progressed it came up "no maps found!"
I have tried a number of things such as wiping the memory card and re-loading the software from scratch......but no joy.
I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out what has happened and what can be done to sort it.
Im sure it is something simple, but cant figure out what it is.....PLEASE HELP

Have you tried simply restarting the phone - the OS might be confused. Also, can I ask you what media your copy arrived in? Was it a genuine DV RS-MMC?
Steve
Thanks for responding
The format I received the software was on CD, and yes the memory card is correct
The strange thing is that it worked for a number of weeks, but I must have done something to disrupt it. I have tried the obvious such a turning the phone on & off, and resetting the phone's factory settings.
I think I must have wiped something off the phone within file manager, but dont understand why I can't re-load the original from the CD????

Hmm... I was under the impression that all TTM5 products shipped on memory cards. Did you get this from TomTom or an authorised dealer?

You are right, all legitimate TomTom Mobile software is supplied on a TomTom branded memory card for the appropriate phone. It is obvious that this isn't the case with Thommo
When will people learn that if you are having a problem with the software, you should call TomTom customer support. If you don't want to call customer support because you obtained the software illegitimately, then that's the drawback of ripping off a company and stealing the software. Deal with it.
Guess none of you have been on eBay and looked how you can obtaine tomtom 5, there are sellers on there offering it as downloads, they have good reputations and i think by now if they had been fake eBay would have removed them, so before jumping on someone, be sure you know ALL possible ways to purchase something. Granted this maybe the case in this situation but you have no proof it is, or is not.....

As far as I know, these are all pirate/cracked copies. TomTom apparently has someone employed purely in an anti-piracy role, though I agree he's not that active 8-(
A seller who has a feedback rating of 200 and risks having his account suspended because of illegal trading is crazy.... It's taken me three years to build *my* 200 rating up, I wouldn't risk it for the world.
I've *strongly* suggested to TomTom that offer TTM5 as an *official* download somewhere, at a sensible price. That would go some way to keep people legal. I'm sure you (and others) would rather pay 60 for a legal, licensed copy, with Traffic info and support, than pay 30 for a cracked copy with no upgrades, Traffic or support.

If you want a cheaper place to get it than the TT site, give Expansys a whirl:

When TomTom 3 came out for Palm OS it was quite a bit cheaper - maybe they get a discount for bulk buying or something.
I personally wouldn't get the software from eBay, but you could get a good deal on a GPS reciever.

I would bet you that 99% of the ones on eBay are copies and illegal. Just because they have high feedback doesnt make them legit and also please remember that just because eBay have not removed them does not mean they are legit. eBay does not have the authority to remove them as they dont know if they are legit or not. They rely on the VERO sceme and legit owners to inform them and then they will remove them. You may have also seen the speed camera database being sold as well for TomTom. These are also illegal and the owners have registered with the VERO scheme and are now actively getting listings closed. You can obtain the speed camera database for FREE from here http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/
