Getting a P910i next week ( should never have got rid of my P900! ), and was interested in being able to put movies onto the memory stick.

Seen a programme called Smartmovie for sale on My Symbian, does anyone here have it and how easy is it to use?

I did see another thread on Howard Forums for converting a full movie and then storing it onto the phone's memory card, but it looked a rather long winding and complex process.

Samrtmovie looks to do it very simply. Any feedback from anyone?

cheers,

I use a Nokia 6630 and have just got Smartmovie. The player is excellent, cannot comment on the converter as I use a mac, but I hear it is very simple to use.

Anyone coming to this thread who does have a mac should check out the following which both have one click smartmovie settings.

Forty Two Movie Converter

or

ffmpegx Movie Converter

If you use the above there is a seperate file to download with the smartmovie settings.

Also looked at another converter software, I think it was called Mobile Media MAker or soemthing of that ilk, and by the reviews, it seems easier to use than SmartMovie.

Looking out for a G5 iMac at the moment, can't afford new, maybe slightly used! My old G3 Powerbook is struggling to cope with all this new modern technology, so have to stick to using the PC

i had smart movie for the 7710 was very easy to use. you have to convert the files on your pc before loading them onto phone. don't know about the p series but on the 7710 the quality was great and i never had any problems with it.

i installed a downloaded version of smart movie on to my phone, with a divx codec so it can regognize the files...but so far all the player does when i open it: goes to a white screen for 2 seconds and then back to the desktop!

is there something im doing wrong?!
how am i supposed to install smart movie and the codec, can some one help me cos i think i might be doing it the wrong way?!
thanxs

Hi

Using SmartMovie on a P910i and have had no problems. Results and play back no problem.

To convert a movie, download onto your PC. Convert and save to a your video folder.

Install SmartMovie on your phone. Install Codex from Lonely Cat site.

Copy moive from PC into video folder on phone.

Start Smartmoive and browse for files. Should produce a list of files which can be played.

You are all go.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I downloaded a trial version of SmartMovie, in the files you download , there is a codec file you have to also install on your P901i, along with SmartMovie player Once I did this, I could view all the movie files I transferred onto the phone.

Have found that copying DVD's onto my PC's hard drive takes ages, but once they are there, SmartMovie converts them fairly quickly into AVI files, and makes them into fairly small files too.

THe first half hour of The Matrix was converted into a file about 15mb in size. Sound is awesome through the stereo headset.

Hi everyone! After installing smartmovie on my p910 there where 2 demo .avi inside.
I used the search option an found them.Clicking on them, the demo starts but from the beginning and almost halfway in the video playback, it goes in "slow motion" with the sound not following the image and viceversa. After halfway through It plays great!!! Can I have a little help on this anybody? Thanx in advance 😊
