6680, Tomtom 5 and CK-7W kit problem

I have a problem that I hope someone on here can help me answer.

I have a 6680 running tomtom 5 mobile with no problems at all.

I have just had a CK-7W advanced nokia car kit installed with a CR-27 (pop-port) phone cradle. I can use the handsfree kit with no problems, it mutes the stereo and everything is fine. The stereo mute also cuts the speakers and gives me the tomtom directions through my car speakers. My problem is that tomtom seems to then want to hog the voice channel to my speakers instead of allowing my music to come back on after the instruction.

Can anybody tell me why this is happening and maybe a resolution to this little gripe?

Thanks in advance

I have a Nokia 6680 with TT5 and Parrot CK3100 handsfree and I get the same problem.

I guess somebody will say its just "one of them things and there's nothing we can do about it"

Well ... I have Nokia 6680, just had the lasted firmware update for it and I have a Parrot CK3000 Evolution car kit with latest firmware too and like you guys TomTom Mobile 5 does NOT release the audio back to the Radio/CD after a voice instruction ... it is really annoying! ... I can tell you a friend of mine has the Nokia 6680 running Route 66 sat nav soft6ware and theat DOES release the audio ....

If anyone finds a resolution please post here ...

Sorry I cant help on this.

However, I am thinking of getting TomTom5 when I get a phone upgrade, so I don't fully understand the situation you guys are in and I'm really asking for some advice.

Isn't the speaker on the phone audiable enough whilst driving (even with the radio on at a moderate volume) or is the addition of these car kits quite neccessary, i.e. luxury or essential?

Plus, although I've heard from many several sources that TomTom5 is the best on the market, have you found any limitations that I should consider before buying?

Sorry I can't help and thanks for any advice you can give.

PS. Has anyone been intouch with TomTom over the car kit issue to complain, as if enough people raise the issue they may make it a priority to fix it in the next software/firmware update?

Here are the issues ... if you use a Parrot bluetooth car kit or most any other bluetooth car kit for that matter once your phone is paired with the kit they usually automatically connect each time you start up the car, so this means you need to then manually disconnect the car kit from the phone via the Bluetooth menus on the phone.

Point is now you can't use your phone via the kit cos it's disconnected and would have to use the phone the old fashioned style, phone to ear, which is illegal ( in the UK anyway)...

Can't be unreasonable to expect TomTom to fix this ... Route 66 Mobile seems to work OK with car kits from what I can gather, although it's lacking some other features that TomTom has.....

raiderz ... have you got the latest firmware update for the CK3100 ... someone told me it seemed it cured the TomTom problem, although he did say he wasn't 100% that this was what had fixed it for him as he'd fiddled about with a few other things too....

Let me know if it works I'd be intereseted if you can confirm the firmware update fixes the issue, I could get onto Parrot then asing them why the CK31000 works and the CK3000 Evolution doesn't !!

Just put 4.12 on the other day, will try it now and report back

Yep the Parrot CK3100 with firmware 4.12 works fine with a 6680 and Tomtom Mobile 5, there's a lag of about 3 seconds before the radio clicks back in but its quite acceptable.

That makes me feel ill, as I deliberated over CK3000 Evolution and the CK3100 and plumped for the CK3000 Evolution, just out of interest which firmware version do you have on the the Nokia 6680 ??

Its on Orange UK, 3.04.35 although im very tempted to get it flashed with the generic Nokia firmware.

I had my flashed recently to get rid of the hideous orange screen, I now have the very nice Nokia active standby homescreen and the phone is much quicker in general, no freeze ups..

Word of warning, my firmware version is 3.04.07 I did note the TomTom bluetooth car kit issue I was experiencing seemed be worse after getting the firmware updated , everything else on the phone though was a whole lot better, prior to the firmware update I could manually force TomTom to release the audio back to the radio/CD player by pushing a couple of menu buttons but after the firmware update I couldn't even do that. Now after the first voice instruction I noticed that the there are no audio tones when pressing menu keys ( e.g. to navigate through TomTom menus is muted ( which wasn't the case with the prior to the firmware update....

I just bought Navicore it works really well with my CK3000 car kit and Nokia 6680, missing a few features that TomTom Mobile 5 has but the company seem progressive, listening to feedback and are keen to move the software on...

Hi, im new to this site, a also have the ck3100 car kit and am also using tomtom mobile but the 6680 only seems to want to connect to 1 device at a time!!! strange , so do i need to change any settings on either the phone or car kit? or would i need to do a firmware upgrade to the ck3100 ? also just to mention i have also upgraded the nokia fimware to the latest....so if you could answer the above and also is it possible to tell me where to get the upgrade for ck3100, and tell me how to find which firmware i already have in the ck3100 and if i need to update it can i do it via bluetooth to car kit etc...

Many thanx from brian

Hi readbmr,

I believe the problem to be that both the Nokia 6630/6680 will only communicate with one BT device at a time. I stand to be corrected though😊
