I've just of a P910 from Orange, and they have (in their infinite wisdom) installed this home screen which allows access to what they consider are the apps. you immediately need....
I don't share their enthusiasm! I want to use Opera for my browser, and Agendus for my diary. Agendus does allow me to enter it's "Today" screen when the flip is open, which is a reasonable compromise. What I'd love is to be able to go straight into apps.
Does anyone know a) how to get rid of it or b) how to customise it? and c) why they bothered?
Thanks
DT
I get the same thing. On other forum i found u can do change the homescreen by flashing the phone. i.e. erase and rewrite the complete firmware. this also allows u to upgrade the installed software - i.e. get an upgradation given by the Company.
some software are there like - Davinci from www.davinciteam.c*m, or other is multiserver
I didnt try but i do want to .....but i am in other country can cant do this here.
I thought it would be "re-flash" issue.....not sure I dare!! I'll have a look at other options
Handyday doesn't defeat my Orange Homescreen!.....I'll have to go to plan B....when I've worked out what plan B is!

I had the same problem when I bought my P900. I bought it new and although it had been on orange, it was unlocked, so I used my o2 Simcard. Worked perfectly - aaprt fromt eh Orange Home Page.
That porved to be aright pain in bottom, as I also wanted / preferred to use Opera, but the two of them couldn't use the same connection, and so Opera was left pretty much useless.Just had to use the Orange thing.
Have since got a P910i ( on O2 ) so it doesn't have any preinstalled rubbish on it.
Good luck!
....and just to add insult to injury, O2 are shipping with P910 for free with certain tariffs.....curses!!!!!
Hi
To remove the Orange Home screen go the the SE website and download and install the SE desktop. Then uninstall the SE desktop. This will do two things, the first it will remove the Orange Home screen. The second after uninstalling the SE desktop and most useful is to unlock the first application shortcut so you can use it yourself.
Hope this helps

Forgive my ignorance but what is the "SE websit" you mention? and when I find it do I download it onto the computer or straight onto my phone? sorry but don't know much about these things, cheers 😉
Good, but no cigar Vim....it doesn't work. You can't even take control of the SE Desktop shortcut. As soon as it's uninstalled, the Orange screen comes right back at yer and you can't alter the shortcut!!!
but...
Even though the SE Desktop isn't excatly attractive, it does give you far better access to application shortcuts, and the desktop itself is handy. I'll stick with it.
You can have that cigar aftreall Vim!!!

he just missed a step....
* Use any file manager, go to C:\System\Autostart folder and rename the homescreen.ast file to any other name e.g. homescreen.abc
* Download and install Sony Ericsson Desktop application
* Reboot the phone. SE Desktop will appear instead of Orange home screen when you open the flip.
* If you don't want to use the SE Desktop and you prefer to have the standard Applications launcher like on unbranded phones, simply uninstall the SonyEricsson Desktop application and reboot your phone.
* Another advantage is that now the first (left most) icon on the icon bar goes back to Messaging and can be freely changed to any shortcut of your choice.
