HELP!!! Nokia PCSuite 6.6 + N7610 + WinXP SP2 = Disaster!

Hi!

I recently downloaded Nokia PC Suite v6.6 so I could connect my laptop to the internet through my N7610. This is GPRS connection not Dial-up. However, I can't even establish a permanent connection between my laptop and my fone. Whenever I try to connect my laptop and fone through bluetooth I always get disconnected after a few seconds so I really cant do anything not even sync.

I read in one thread (just not sure if its in this site) that the Windows Firewall settings might have an effect on Bluetooth connections especially if Service Pack 2 is installed..And guess wat, I happen to have all these ingredients for disaster 😞

I have a Nokia 7610, Windows XP w/ SP2 and Nokia PC Suite 6.6.

Please help me if you have any work arounds on this or any URL where I can get useful information on this.

Thanks in advance.

Does it work reliably with the USB cable? (Helps to ensure that the problem is only Bluetooth-related.)

Are you using WinXP SP2 Bluetooth drivers or Bluetooth hardware vendor's drivers? If one, try the other, in case it is better.

If you disable the PC's local firewall and/or virus scanners, does it make a difference?

If you want to use with BT modem, check carefully from PC Suite help how to install manually the Bluetooth modem. With Microsoft BT you should have the Bluetooth modem installed "plug and play", but not with other Bluetooth vendors SW. With those you have to install the BT modem manually and instructions are in PC Suite help.
