9210 won't start up.

Hi, I've searched the board and can't find mention of this anywhere (i've also tried the coin on the battery connectors trick to no avail).. anyway, my 9210 refuses to start up. When i switch it on it starts booting but then switches itself off after about 10 seconds. A few seconds later it tries to start up again but fails again. and so on.

Does anyone know a solution to this?

Many thanks.

It seems this is a low power issue. Did you try it with the charger connected? You could try with charger and without battery.

Yeah, I've tried it with the charger connected (for 3 days!!) but it still does the same thing. With the charger connected but no battery in, it doesn't do anything at all.

To add to my woes, the phone isn't even mine, it was lent to me by a client which means i don't have access to the serial connectors or re-install cd or anything. not that this would help as I'm on Mac OSX, I just thought I'd add the extra info.

If anyone can think of any other ideas it would be much appreciated, if at all possible I'd love to not lose my contacts db.

Thanks again.

Is the battery bar on the phone side moving? When you connect the charger you should hear a beep and see the charging of the battery in the display ... could be something is wrong with the charger if you don't see anything.

yep, it is moving, and yep it beeps, every time it turns itself back on. I had to put it under a cushion when it was charging because the beeping was really starting to grate on me!
(thanks for trying to help btw)

No problem, just a pitty that I can't give you any better advise then to return it to a service center ...

Did the battery drain down completely?

If so then what's happening is the charger is charging the battery, the phone is turning itself on, using up ALL the charge in the battery and therefore dying, and then when it's off the charger puts a little more charge in the battery, the phone turns itself on....etc..etc...

What you need to do is charge the battery outside the phone (ie. a deskcharger which has a seperate battery charger.

To test this if you can get another battery for the 9210 and try that.

If your stuck I've got a deskstand for the 9210 and can charge the battery for you. I'm in the Liverpool area or you can post it to me and I'll charge it and send it back.

HTH

try using another battery...

if using another batt still doesn't work, as DAZLER said -- bring it to the nearest service center.
