Hi, this looks like the sort of place I could get the help I need.
I've recently obtained a 9210e as part of some bankrupt stock, and thought I'd give it a try. I took the SIM card from my old phone, put it into the 9210 and it's working fine. I like the screen, typing text messges, and the hands free operation. But I'd like to see what else I can do with it, so I wanted to use PC Suite.
I downloaded what should be the correct version of PC Suite for the phone and Windows 98SE (installation file Nokia_9210_PCSuite_211_en.exe) from the Nokia website. However I can't open PC Suite. I connect the phone with the serial cable, choose Com1 in properties, the tray icon flashes, the computer slows down, then I try to open PC suite, but the computer does not seem to be able to connect to the phone. I get a message saying "This is the first time you have used PC Suite Please connect the communicator to the PC or press close to quit (The phone is connected already). I click OK but nothing happens. If I click OK repeatedly I may get to another window which says "Your communicator is no longer connected. You can either reconnect or continue to work offline." And there are two options a) Reconnect or b) work offline as... but reconnect doesn't work, and there is nothing in the offline window to select. Can anyone help?
The phone is using version 4.14 of the software.
