Jad / Jar

Hi guys,

When downloading software for my 6680, sometimes i have the opportunity to download .jad or .jar files. Could someone please explain the difference and whether i need both. If so, what do i do with each file?

A .jad (Java Archive Description) is principally just a text file stating where the actual program is, which is the .jar (Java ARchive) file (which is more or less just a renamed .zip file with the compiled .class files, etc.).

so when downloading programs do i need to download both .jad and .jar files? I assume that i only install the .jar file to the phone, or do i install both .jad and .jar files to the phone?

You don't need the .jad file, if you can get to the .jar directly.
