NEW THEMES: BlueOrange and N70

25 replies · 22,771 views · Started 05 October 2005

Hello all there,

after long time i'm back. So i got now 2 themes ready, but they are still in beta release.

BlueOrange

Download BlueOrange Test2 - Darker Blue
Download BlueOrange Test3 - Light Blue

Features: new colors, color and bw icons, new animation during charging when turned off, new startup animation, clock is blue

N70

Download N70 Test6 - updated 2005/11/9

Features: new colors, new icons, new startup animation, white clock, has now some tabs, battery gfx, complete changelog in installation

Importent:
THEMES ARE FOR FIRMWARE VERSION 78 (1.198.8.2) ONLY

Please put here some comments and other informations. The BlueOrange is mostly complete, but N70 lacks some more icons and some small glitches are there. Also i would like to modify more graphics, but that takes more time to do.

Everyone should view the themes on their phones cause the colors on the phone are not same as on this screen 😊

Cheers, murphy

Murphy - Fabulous!

You kept the N70 one quiet - even from me! (I might have some interesting news for you soon 😉)

The N70 was done in the last 3 days 😉 Looking forward to the news and missing some files from you (do you remember?)

The BlueOrange icons seems to be B/W.

It could be you keep b/w images (i think them would be more compressed than the sames coloured) to free some KB of RAM ?

Could i ask you how much free RAM do you have after turn on the phone with this theme installed?

Thank you!

BlueOrange comes with black & white AND colour icons - you can choose which one you want from the Themes menu.

The amount of free RAM doesn't get affected by using black & white icons. (or at least it didn't make any difference on my test handset)

@Murphy - yes I remember... I can't find those files anywhere. But again, I might have some news for you on that front in the next few days...

Maybe it's a dumb question, but if it makes no difference at all, why someone will have to choose the b/w version ? :?

...simply because Murphy decided to give the user the option of having black & white icons. It looks pretty good if you ask me.

Ooops. I didn't fix this? I need to do this. I will deliver a new version at the weekend 😉 Thanks for report.

Cheers, murphy

Wich one is the 78 verision, is the latest??, because I thought it was 198.

Also, can someone (stuclark) publish all the themes posted here (AllAboutSymbian) in Sendosmartphones, there we can have all of them organized and easy to find, by the way great web page.

78 = 1.198.8.2 <--- the last one (you need this for the new themes)
60 = 1.98.5.2
50c = 1.56.2.2

Ok, I've deeply analized your new "creations". I have some questions:
I'm very happy to see that you have found the way to open the animation_XIP and systemIcons_XIP files! How do you did it? Every time I try to open these files (in the themedefault) I get an error message.
I have seen that you have changed some colors in the rsc file. Can you explain how you did it?
Thanks, and congratulations for the great job!

Senapone wrote:@murphy: Mine was not a negative comment!

I know and its ok 😊 I only thought b/w icons are cool.

Nice to see 😉

I used the *.mbm files from the GPRS problem firmware. This is the only form to unpack the bmps. Since they haven't change between this and newest. I the newest firmware handles a compression that the bmconv.exe doesn't know. I think its one of the Sendo internal RLE like compression. I haven't tried to unpack them more than once. 😉

ermete3smegisto wrote:I have seen that you have changed some colors in the rsc file. Can you explain how you did it?

I've got a fairly good knowledge of analysing unknown fileformats on devices and pcs. I analysed most of the rsc file format and i can read it now in a hexeditor and decode most of it. Although i'm currently documenting what i've found out. The colors from BlueOrange are first steps of this. I will publish docs when they are more ready for normal users to read or i will publish an editor for the bmps and colors in the rsc files (a theme editor, yes!), but this will take much more work.

Thanks for compliments 😊

PS: do not try at home unless you know what are you doing! some things really crash your phone and you must reformat it with the magic '5'.

Great Work murphy :icon14:

Hello,

the themes look great. Good work!:icon14:
But could it be that both themes need a huge amount of memory? Using the Blueorange reduces my free ram to 4MB, with the curves theme there are about 5MB.

Thanks for compliments. I know its really big, but i don't think its so big. i will do somespace optiomations when i have time. I'm currently extending n70 and recreating blueorange. So please wait a little time.

Cheers, murphy.

Thanks to your work, now I can read the rsc file! I'm creating a little doc, trying to document all the known parts of the file (only for developers!). I'll post all the work soon in my site, and in this forum... here you can see a small anticipation: (it's a photo, not a screen shot, so you can see the indicators too)

Can you send me the list for the colors with its numbers? That would help me in speeding up development of a small theme editor like program 😉

Cheers, murphy

PS: New N70 released today... 😉

Take your time. I've very busy at current 😊

ermete3smegisto wrote:Ok, here you can find the file:

It's a work in progress, so I continuously upgrade it...
😃
Can you please send me the "themedefault" theme files from the first version of the 78?
So I can add the not-encripted mbm files in the new version of the ETTDK. Thanks!

(You can find my email address on the top of my site.)

I do this when i'm at home today. Your textfile looks great 😉 Since i'm at work now i've looked only shortly at it.

Cheers, murphy 😉
