Hi,
I've just been through the first round of a Symbian Signed test round
and did not pass the infamous 'lowmem' test and a 'calender event' test.
The lowmem test is easy solveable with all the information about it
floating around.
The 'Calndar event' thingy however I'm not clear about how to solve it.
Apparently the tester has set a calender event and then runs the
application. The calender event does not pop through (neither the sound
nor the messagebox) and only displays itself after closing the game.
Luckily I've been able to reproduce this exact behaviour on the Nokia
7610 phone. However, on the Nokia NGage the calender popup and sound DO
come through!
If I phone either phone while the game is running it behaves as expected
and lets the call through and switches to the main screen.
Any thoughts on what to do with this? Or how to correctly respond to
calendar events?
Thanks!
Reinier
Hi Reinier,

Interesting question. I'd have thought this would just 'happen' OK (as you say
it goes on the N-Gage) on all phones. Let me ask around internally and see if
anyone has any ideas.
Regards,
Phil

So, request testing be done on the N-Gage. One problem going away 😉
Or, to be a bit more professional, request a voucher, giving the different
behaviours of the different Series 60 implementations as the reason.

I'd rather have it solved of course.... but if I really can't find it,
are these really viable options?

You can try running your app/thread at lowest priority possible, all events
will come through then. However if your app is a game then it may have other
undesired effects.

You might want to investigate whether the delayed calendar event is a known
problem. Nokia has a list of these on Forum Nokia.
