For some reason my phone just stopped ringing when people would call me. I checked the "Profiles" are to make sure it wasn't on silent or anything and it wasn't. I clicked "Personalise" to look at the setting of the "General" profile (the one that set to active) and when I messed around with "Play tone" it says and I quote "unsupported file format" to ALL the .mid files that the phone CAME preloaded with. So since I HAD a .mid file set as my ring tone I changed it to one of the .aac ring tones on the phone and it played. I had a friend call my phone and it rang but now a few days later its not once again! The aac files still play if I click "Play tone" but if someone calls me it doesnt ring and once again its NOT set to silent, and I HAVE shut it down and restarted it to see if that fixes the problem but it doesnt..

When I go to look at the pictures Ive taken (go to camera then hit "Go to images" it says there are none there. Even if I take a pic, save it, and look again still nothing. Now if I plug the phone in to my PC via the USB cable the .jpg image files are there to transfer to my pc and they look just fine but for some reason my very expensive Nokia 7710 seems to be fooked up and unable to display .jpg files it takes or play .mid files it came preloaded with.. It doesnt even vibrate when a call comes in but if i click "play tone" and have vibe selected it does vibe, so i know it works ya know...
Anyone got any ideas as to why and what I can do about it? The phone is just a few weeks old and I take very good care of it but its screwing up big time on me!
It's like the OS is going corrupt or something,.. is there some way to put it back on the phone via my pc and the usb cable?
it should be your firmware unstable...so i might suggest u to go to nokia to upgrade it...
what firmware r u using currently?

I've got a Nokia 7710, Firmware v03.26 doing the same thing.
The ringtone problem is exactly the same as the one you describe, both ringtones and images. The phone also won't vibrate on incoming calls, however it does beep and vibrate for calendar alerts without any problems. I haven't checked if the alarms work.
I've tried swapping the profiles around, flight mode, restarting, closing all apps till it reboots,... but it doesn't seem to have any helpful affect.
I think it must be a problem with interface between the file system and the OS, or maybe even more... I can still see all the pics in the File Manager, but if I double click them, it says "format not supported".
I first had the problem about 6 weeks ago, it lasted about 2 weeks and then for no apparent reason, it went away. I don't remember if it started working after I rebooted the phone, or it just went from not ringing -> ringing without a reboot.
It was fine for ~2 weeks again, and then it died for another ~1 week. It started working again!, but about 3 days ago it stopped. I joke to people that my phone plays movies, but won't ring :P
I'm going to take it into the Nokia Care Center today and see if they will upgrade the firmware for me under warranty.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Hey Ben I think I can help ya out! I fixed the problem we both seem to be having with MY phone by pulling the battery! I let it sit on the table at the bar I was eating at for like, well,.. as long as it took me to eat my burger, Ha! 😃
It plays all the ring tones and shows all the pics now so try that and ummm eat a burger while you wait. Medium rare with Swiss cheese! Cant hurt right? Ha! 🙄
Hey alvinmak, how do I check what firmware Ive got? ...and a link to where I would download an update would rock too! Maybe a firmware update would keep this from happening again...:icon14:

to urdate the firmware,u only can do it in Nokia Care Center...
they need a special device to upload it...
