'MMC formatting tools / methods - please help?

Yep, purchased one of those 'Magu MMC plus 2Gb 4.0' -cards to my 9500.

Used succesfully over a month the card using +1Gb capacity containing mp3 and navigation software (Navicore).

After one interrupted 5,5Mg mp3 file transfer from MMC with Blue Tooth to another mobile phone, I noticed that the whole MMC card is mixed up. Directory and file names were written in strange characters and none of the applications worked when using the MMC card.

I was not able to fix the card with 9500 or PC using MMC card reader. Because of that, I tried to format the card and start from the beginning. Since the formatting was not possible from 9500 because the phone doesn't recognize the card, only possibility was to use PC with card reader.

After formatting using Win XP File Manager with card reader, I receive following error message:

'Unable to finish formatting.' (Or something similar)

So, Win XP started the formatting, but couldn't finish it. Now the situation is that the library structure of the MMC card is broken because it was partly formatted, so I can't access with anything to the card. Also, if I try to format it again using Win XP, I get following error message:

'The disk in drive I cannot be formatted.'

Anybody have any hints for MMC formatting tools/methods using Win XP or any other platform?

I tried to look with Google and Altavista, but couldn't find anything usable? Thanks a million in advance if you can help me.

I went into my local CEX store, and they formated a new card for me free. CAlled it a bloody stupid name, but didnt have the balls to tell them to change it.

Might be an idea. At worst, they might charge u a quid 😊

Guys... this might help... then again might not.

I have had similar issues with MMC cards, the way round it for me was;

1.place card in a reader
2.right click and rename
3.right click again the select 'format'
4.choose device (or whatever it is) format at 'FAT' not FAT32 (might be DOS FAT etc)

you should then be able to use the card in the PC and the moby..
