My Nokia 7610......

[LEFT]Hey,

First of all hi all, 😉

I have a problem with my Nokia 7610 Mobile. It started having a problem long time back but now its getting worse. Firstly, this mobile, needed a format, apparently because of VIRUS's. I got the mobile formatted for 12$ from a service center. I know this is a very awkward situation, I mean charge 12$ just for a format? (I think I need a break at the basin for a puke). But, things started getting nastier you know. The mobile persisted having the problem, and a new problem have arised.

Now the mobile needs a new format (hard reset), and so I did, again for a drastic 12$. Later on, that is now, I'm having a different problem, the service center seemed very grim at the fact too. But I know they were happy, coz, they asked for an extra $28. This is worrying, they say that I need to install all the factory software and applications all over again.

Now, what really happens: 😮 ?

The mobile doesn't open up, it doesn't switch on unless I port the cell onto the charger. When I put it on charge, a message is derived as soon as the screen after the bootscreen Nokia, which is

Startup failed, Contact the retailer.

That I did, they told that I needed to install main apps which I think I don't know where to get. Hey, can you guys post me a link to the main apps, if it is downloadable? And also, how do you install the main apps, even if you get them. What do you think guys?

Umm.. Any critics and any other blah, blah is welcome.

Cheers,

You could have reformatted the device yourself. Instructions here: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/17507/

The "contact retailer" error is more serious. A Nokia service/repair center could try fixing the problem by reflashing the phone (you can't do it on your own without relatively expensive flashing equipment and illegally distributed firmware files). I suppose this is what you call "installing main apps".

However, the error is more likely to be hardware related than software/firmware, which means that components need to be replaced (could mean the whole main board, as there are not that many replaceable parts inside). Depending on the age of the device you may get it done under warranty, but otherwise they'll charge something (and you have to think whether it is worth your while, or if you should get a new phone, instead).
