Announced at NMC, the Nokia N80 is a device that expands on Nokia's promise to bring entertainment to the smartphone. With a form factor eerily reminiscent of the first Series 60 device, the 7650, the N80 brings with it WiFi and 3G connectivity, but the main feature here is UPnP - Universal Plug and Play - which should allow you to tap into your TV, PC, Hi-Fi and other home entertainment devices, using the N80 as the central remote control. I just brought N70 and now going to upgrade to this only.

ok thats my next phone, i was ganna get the n70 but i thought about it, no use after i just bought the 6680.
Why miniSD and not DV RS MMC? I thought the power issue in smartphones was the reason DV cards were being favoured now. Looks the dogs though!
Not sure how accurate the picture will prove to be, but Mobile Tracker shows a photo of the N80 next to a credit card which gives a good size comparison. Slightly less width; slightly more height. The screen resolution on this phone is incredible...basically twice that of most S60 phones to date. This means potentially nicer text, etc.

Now THIS...the Nokia N80...is the phone I've been waiting for. I've been using my old tried and true 3650 (with the weird keypad), waiting for just the right thing. Think about it:
Nokia (absolute leader of Symbian S60 OS)
Slider form factor (well-suited to the large screen size of S60)
Overall small form factor (no more gawks as with the 3650)
Professional appearance (suited to the workplace)
Stereo digital music, including FM tuner
Expandability
High-resolution camera with "flash"
S60 OS...the best out there for mobile phones...so lots of 3d party apps
Basically, my ideal mobile smartphone! I can't wait to get it.
The only gripe I have is NO LENS COVER! WHY can't Nokia put a small cover like almost all digital cameras?

And, in essence, the Multimedia key is an extra/additional key which you can set to launch any built-in or installed app.
Shame - doesnt seem to have GPS built in. That would really make it interesting! Otherwise its got itall.
With so many features in such a small form factor, I doubt the rechargeable battery will last long. I suspect you�ll have to be less than 2 hours away from the nearest power sockets to get the most out of it.
So buy an extra battery. You won't have to carry a camera on trips anymore, so find a place to store an extra battery or two. BTW...today's batteries recgarge within just a couple of hours.

What do you mean? miniSD isn't that new. I think it's way better than that terrible dv-rs-mmc stuff. Just because of it's capacity nowadays. Don't think a 512Mb card will suffice for such a multimedia device (mp3's/full res.photo's/other data/etc..)
The mobile phone has a 3 mega..camera.. and its going to be the best mobile fone out untill the new nokia comes out on january the 21 i cant tell you what fones going to come out but thats all i can tell ou.....if you are woundering how i know all this my dad works with nokia hes business is set up with them

All your comments make me crack up! Stop askin dumb ass questions and do some research!! In MY opinion n80 seems to be the best all rounder around this time- with a good battery life and is nice and small.. Camera and screen res is top drawer guys.. You know the crack tho? it'll take AGES to be tested on our networks, and not come cheap!! BY the time we can buy it Sony Erricson's p990 will be out- plus Nokia's secret prototype's will be press released...stay vigilant fellow gadget lovers..
Just a thought for you all.. Think these phones of today are hot with all their high specs, sound, playback, and camera capabilities..? I have a friend that works over in HongKong, and he told me they are working on hologram projection units..(Not sure i quite believe him but did see one on an arcade flat bed video game in Blackpool Pleasure Beach 8 years ago, the holograms were only in green but totally freaked me out!! ) But just Imagine that for a second.. Superb!
