N70 Memory Card Problem

Hi all,

New to forum so please be gentle with me

Brought myself an N70 last Saturday after hunting around for one the last couple of weeks. I was so glad when I called my local t-mobile shop and they said they had 1 in stock.

Got it home, unpacked and sync'd it to my laptop, all works fine (a little slow on opening apps) apart from the memory card, it's coming up with "no memory card inserted". I've tried the card in other phones so I know it's not the card, even tried different cards in my phone but nothing.

Any ideas how I might be able to rectify this, I know that I am going to have to wait ages till I can get another one from the shop.

Many thanks in advance

James

Sounds a bit like the phone is broken; at least if the card works in other phones and you inserted it correctly (connector side upwards) in the N70. 😉

Note: The card has to be a dual-voltage (DV) RS-MMC (or "MMCmobile"😉 card. Single-voltage RS-MMC cards won't work in the N70.

Hi, yeah the card is being inserted correctly and the card is the 64 card that came with the phone.

I was hoping it wouldnt be the phone so I wouldnt have to set up a new one with emails, settings etc etc.

Thanks for your help.

its not your phone i dont believe and not ur card, its just the both of them together, same thing in the nokia 6680 mine was horrid! but i got a kingston 512mb dvrsmmc (or mmcmobile same thing) and no problems. things even load faster since the memory card is 133X which the original nokia one isnt

I have also tried other cards in my phone and they didnt work either so i'm hoping i wont need to change the card aswell as I have loads of stuff on there I dont want to lose.

Phoned my local t-mobile shop this morning about an exchange only to be told that they are closing down and that I couldnt get a replacement phone.

They suggested calling Customer Service which I did expecting them to say they have no N70's in stock, which is what they've been telling me the last couple of weeks. Only to be told that they have plenty in stock and that they are sending a replacement out for am delivery tomorrow.

What service, shame the shop cant take a leaf out of their book.

Many thanks for the suggestions, just need to go through setting up the new phone the same as my broken one.

Does anyone know of an application that will copy the contents of my whole phone including settings etc? I currently have PC Suite

You won't believe this. It seems CS are worse than the shop.

Friday am arrived and I called CS around 11.30 cause there was no sign of my new phone, to be told to call back after 12 if it still hadnt arrived. Guess what I called back as no sign still. Then I was told that the new phone hadn't been dispatched due to a process error and that it would arrive Monday am.

I ended up putting the phone down on them as I was fuming, I called back 10 mins later and demanded that they delivered it on Sat morning but they where having none of it. After about 20 fags I calmed down and excepted it would come Monday am.

Monday am came, I called up about 10 just to check it had been dispatched and they reassured me that it had and that to call back after 1 if I hadnt received it. Came to 12.15 and I called, and only to be told that the phone hadnt been despatched due to no stock. I was at the end of my teffer and asked for a manager to call me back.

Guess what, no call. I then tried to get through to Customer Complaints and got the line dropped on me about 3 times. At this time I had enough and I just wanted to cancel everything with them and go somewhere else. Even that caused problems. I had to go to the shop where I got the phone from but they have now closed.

In the end I got through to CC and explained everything to them, the bloke on the other end was really understanding and has halfed my line rental and my text bundles till this is sorted out.

But I'm still sat here with a broken phone and a wicked 512 card that I cant use. If this isnt sorted with in a week then I'm closing everything down with t-mobile and going elsewhere.

Thanks for reading, feeling better now I've got this off my chest.

dude! i have the same problem about the memory card of my n70... just wanna know what am i gonna do fix it? is it the phone that have problem?

if your six months are not over after purchasing the phone u can get it free repair at nokia service center...

So this MMC card of N70 is real creepy. How can be this happen when your phone is so new and something is happening.

My advice is to test everything before purchasing it. Like check the phone like a hard start. From battery to MMC card, call to a friend, send an sms, let your friend call you using the new N70 and all the staff to check if this phone and some gadgets really working or not. 🙄

There's no need for such a thing. You can SMS/call/browse etc for the whole period in which the warranty is valid. If something happens, you take the phone back.

Hi,

I have got the same problem, phone is not recognizing the memory card but my memory card is working in other phone.
I purchesed N70 in the month of June 07. I handled it properly, even then this occurred. It seems, there is some mistake in the phone itself. I just want to know whether i will be getting a replacement as only 3 months are gone since i purchased the phone.

Thanks
Saurabh

I had this problem recently with my N70 and the bog standard MMC that came with the phone which I had been using for 18 months. I pulled my card out and was able to use a card reader on my PC to see the contents so like everyone else I assumed there was a problem with the phone.

Eventually however, I fixed it by making sure the card was fully inserted (had to use a matchstick cos my thumbs are too big). You will know when in its in properly cos you will hear a small click and the card will have almost disappeared. The cover flap itself is not used to hold the card in place - only for security and dust protection. When you next remove the flap you will get the message "Remove memory card and press OK" and you will need to use a finger nail to get the card out.

how to transfer files to the memory card? becouse my telephone memory is full and when im sending files to memory card , files are still in telephone momory how to deleete those files that they can be saved in memory card?
