Interesting reading in this story on Yahoo. Summary: Nokia are both disappointed by N-Gage sales so far (but what do they expect with such old OS and S60 versions, plus competition from other handheld gaming devices) and upbeat about plans to expand the 'platform' (i.e. the games) to other smartphones.

Legitimate N-Gage games are all on MMC cards. As far as I know none of the N-Series phones will accept MMC cards. Therefore contrary to what Nokia claims, N-Series phones can't play N-Gage titles.

What Nokia has stated that starting some time next year new "N-Gage" games will, instead of dedicated gaming devices, work on some new Nokia S60 phones. This does not necessarily include any existing/current S60 phones available or announced so far. And Nokia has not said existing N-Gage game cards will work on such phones (they will only work on the N-Gage and N-Gage QD phones as they do today).
Note also that newer phones require RS-MMC size cards, or Micro-SD or Mini-SD cards, so the full-size cards won't even fit most of the new phones. 😉
