4 replies · 1,763 views · Started 06 November 2005

I've just installed pc suite 6.6 and upon conneting my 6630 via my usb cable, a message advising me that my pc suite settings on my phone annot be found.
I have done everything possible to fix this, re-installing 6.6, reinstalling XP too! Nothing I have done has helped.

Can you help if you read this?

How do I format my phone?

Will I lose all data on it?

Would be wise to store data on my memory card?

Please run through the steps with me.😊 😊 😊 😊

Before you do something drastic as reformatting, try this first:

1: Install FExplorer (http://www.gosymbian.com) on your phone
2: With it copy Z:\System\SuiteConf.xml to C:\System\SuiteConf.xml
3: Retry connecting with your PC

You could also try clearing out the phone's details on the PC, which you can find under "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Nokia\PCSync\SynchData\IMEI" (where "USERNAME" is your username/account and "IMEI" is your phone's IMEI/serial number). I haven't checked, nor do I remember, if the "IMEI" directory is hidden by default, or not, or just some files there...

A full reformat will wipe out all user data (contacts, messages, picturers, etc.) in phone memory. Instructions for the procedure here:

Hey dude!

Cheers for all the info. I reformatted my phone's drive by typing *#7073#.
Worked like a dream!

I didn't have any major stuff on the phone, only my contacts and those I transfered to my MMC card.

Don't leave your card in the phone if you reformat.

Shit WILL hit the fan!
