Embeddable sis files

Hi,

Anyone have experience with getting embeddable sis files signed?

I have an app with contains another app in an embeddable sis file. From the
Symbian signed docs I'm deducing that the embeddable sis has to be signed
seperately in advance. However in my case, both the apps in the 2 sis'
cannot be seperated, one won't function without the other. Any ideas? And
just to confirm, my app installs a few exes too, I'm right in thinking that
exe's don't have to be signed right? Nor do MDLs!

It they are that closely linked why are there 2 .sis files instead of only
1?

Only .sis files are signed, .exe files don't need signing as they can only
be installed from a .sis file.

We have 2 apps as part of the entire solution, hence the need for 2 sis
files. We can't have 2 apps in one sis file right?

But do the .exes need to be tested for the symbian signed criteria; for e.g.
low mem?

Cheers, AMK

I could be wrong but I do not see what can be wrong in having 2 applications
in one sis file as long as you do not expect to be able to uninstall or
update them independentely.

The testing hows will test every executable file in the package (that is
every *.app, *.dll, *.exe, *.whatever) as they all can "hide" unhealthy
behavior form OS point of view.

Best regards,
Lasse

Yes you can. Works fine on Series 60.

How to put 2 UIDs in the .pkg file? There's no option for that?

Thanks, AMK

And replying to my own question; for the second app I gave no UID in the
pkg and it installed fine; DOH!!! Thanks Sander and Lasse.
