Admin Team discussion / your biography

As part of the general update to the admin stuff I'm going to update the about the team (running AAS) page. I would therefore ask all the admins to start thinking about writing a short biography or introduction to themselves.

Second part of this post is open to dicsussion. No decisions yet, but a possible idea...

Part of this is bought by what I feel is the need to have a little more organistion in thw admin team. As the site grows (and this will only get truer with more devices) there is no way on person can overview everything. When the site first started this is exaclty what I did do, but obviosuly its not practical!

Therefore I'd propose formalising the structure somewhat. It isn't really go to mean anything, and just because your listed in one area and not another it doesn't mean you can't help out there.

I'd propose having a group of admin co-ordinator who people can contact in a given area as an alternative point of contact to myself.

Senior Admin Team / Admin Co-ordinators
People who are alredy do an admin co-ordination role in one way or another. Also acting as possible contact points externally. Not necessairly a finsihed list.
Rafe Blandford - Admin Co-ordinator/ Symbian Generalist
Robin Talbom (sp?) - Nokia 9210 / Technical Expertise
Ewan Spence - Developer Support / Corporate Relations
Jordan Holt - 7650 / Series 60 Specialist

Admin Positions / Responsibilities
Long time users or people with expertise in a particular area. Also where the specialists advisors go. Do not deal with people / site users on a day to day basis - unless they want to.

I'm leaving this list empty I don't want anyone to feel left out. Volunteers?
e.g. a Review department with all the reviewers listed under it.

Forum Mods / Responsibilities
Policing and interacting in the forum.

Forum moderator (will add list)

This is not meant to be hierachical in any real sense. Inevitably some of that will develop. But then it already exists... I guess I'm seen as the head of AAS, but I think having some kind of strcuture would help me. I wouldn't have to necessairly answer every query. Less time adminstering basic stuff.

I know already some people are helping others out and a certain amount of discussion co-operation goes on without me - that's great and is something I want to encourage. Afterall I don't need to approve every review, or every new moderator in the forum. Yes communication will have to be good, but I think as you get SymbianOS become a many device world no on person can be an expert everywhere. It would be nice to have an 'expert' in each area who other people can refer stuff too.

Anyway this is still an the idea stage, the about the team page needs updating and I thought this would be as good a time as any to dicsuss how the admin team should move forward and expand.

Thoughts comments... (you can say its crap, I'm not all knowing)

Everybody posting his biography, sure, am i supposed to give it to you by email (word, plain text) Or post it here?

Robin Talboom 😉
I agree that this could help you with adminstrating the site. Let people contact the experts instead of first bothering you 😊 I'm honoured to be considered an expert 😉 don't know if I can back this up but I'll do my best 😉
