Can anybody please help me...

Whenever I try to install some software on my Nokia 7650 I get this strange text:

Cannot install .... First install Series60 Product ID!

So I cannot install anything on my phone, it keeps giving me this text.

Help, I don't know what to do...

Depe

Are you sure the software you're trying to install is made for Series 60 devices? Maybe you should give us more info about what you're trying to install and what your firmware version of your 7650 is (just press *#0000# to see what version you have).

Well I'm trying to install the game: Bounce (downloaded from the original Nokia site).

My 7650 has the 2.2 software version.
It's a proto, the software is from last may 2002.

Is it possible that these problems dissapear when I get an upgrade?

Thanx

WOw! A prototype! It's defintly the problem from the prototype, as i've never encountrered any such problem with original nokia software (not to mention any other kind of software)

I'm pretty sure it will work if you upgrade!

I think you're totally right about the upgrade.
I've made an appointment for next week, so i'll let everybody know how it works out.

But for some reason the text: 'First install Series60 ProductID' was installed on my prototype. They've done that with a reason, I would think.
When I call the careline from Club Nokia, they don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I surprised them even more when I told them that my IMEI code started with 00 instead of 350. Nobody knows my prototype is out there I think.

Are you sending your phone to the Nokia Store in Amsterdam (Muntplein)? I am wondering how their service is in case I have to bring mine for an update.

Well, I will bring it to the Nokia Store in Maastricht.
Reason for this is because I partly work for Nokia (that's why I have a prototype) and I have to be in Maastricht on Business.

If you're looking for a good service point, and Nokia Store Amsterdam is one, of course. But you can always go to the Nokia Store in Rotterdam.
This is the biggest Nokia Store in the Netherlands and if you go early in the morning you don't have to wait long. They also have a one-hour service, depending on what you're coming for.

Good Luck

Well, I've had my 7650 updated and now I have the software version 3.16 and I can honestly say it made my day. I'm so happy. I can finally put all these programs on it, wich I found on this forum. This is so great.
Thanks for all the tips...

Yeah, prototypes aren't marked as using the Series 60 OS. Any good piece of software has a OS check on installation to prevent it from being installed to a prototype phone or (for example) Nokia Communicator.

Sounds kind of logical since Nokia probably doesn't want protos out in the open after the phone is released to market.
