Hi

I've read a few reviews about the Nokia 9500 and they all say its a bit slow. 2 sec opening emails etc.. Is this now become better with the firmware etc. Or is it as slow as it was when released in Feb.

Why im asking is that Im tryin gto decided weather to get the Nokia 9300, 9500 or maybe the 02 XDA Exec..

What do you guys think?

Yes, the 9500 is slow, but IMHO this is basically if you compare it with Intel-driven PC's running the same kind of applications, which is *NOT* the case of most other PDA's.

As far I have seen, similar software on most PDA's (if available, which is seldom) is at least as slow as on Communicator. The Communicator's apparent slowness is mainly due to its exceptional richness (or to Symbian's richness).

Also, remember the processor clock, the battery size and the autonomy..

Is it possbile to connect the communicator 9300/9500 to an external harddrive as i.e. my Ipod`?

ANd can I watch movies(divx/xvid-format) on the communicator?

Couple of things!
1) The 9500 isn't slow for the most part. People usually think it is because they don't know how to use multi-tasking. Just ignore all the 'Close' buttons and leave everything running in RAM all the time. Result: (nearly) everything's instant!

2) With a 1GB MMC, you can fit on dozens of CDs of music, more if you use the Ogg format. Who needs a hard drive. The 9500 *IS* your iPod! Yes, XviD is the format used by two popular players, SmartMovie and DVDPlayer, although you'll have to watch picture sizes and bitrates, etc.

For more detail on both of these points see (plug, plug) my 3-Lib 9500 tips page: http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/tips9500.htm

Hope all this helps!

Steve

So there is no way to connect a "usb pen" or external harddrive to the Ipod. That is a bit negative if u ask me... i.e when you have like 20gb pictures like me. It would be nice to just hook up the ipod to the communicator. Transfer the needed pictures, or even better show the pictures on the communicator directly.. or play movies etc from the Ipod..

Another question... Nokia 9500 or 9300, how long will the battery last if I watch a movie (xvid) on it?
