Sony Ericcson's UK site is now carrying a product page for the SE 990i. I'm still trying to see what the 'i' stands for and the difference between this and the announced but not available SE 990? It still carries 3G and WiFi, so it's not the rumoured "cut down" version.

Could it be a version for our transatlantic cousins? Either that, or a version w/o the built in keyboard.
Typically, the 'i' stands for machines with GSM frequencies for Europe and South America (I think Africa too). The 'a' Goes for North America frequencies, and 'c' is for Asia. Thus, you are likely to have 3 triband phones: P990i, P990a and P990c. If you look at the P910, the situation described above is exactly what happens. If they made it quad-band, it would work worldwide and none of this 'region' nonsense.
