Nokia 3230 Supports Stereo Audio!

Hello Guys!

Here is my logical doubt. You guys should take the resposibility to clear it. But its true.....

No other MP3 Players supports stereo in NOKIA 3230. But the known thing is NOKIA 3230 has a built-in RADIO which is already a STEREO and with good sound clarity. The sound device is same for both radio and music player. If the radio supports stereo, then why cant there be a stereo MP3 PLAYER with same sound clarity of the visual radio?right? Search........

The FM radio chip & related DAC (digital to analog converter) handles the stereo output for radio. The radio application is just a user interface to command the radio but the actual sound output is routed directly to the audio output/headset -> stereo out.

No such thing for the MP3 player. Decoding is done in software and routed through the operating system and one channel out -> no stereo.

The latter also means that nobody can write an add-on MP3 player that would support stereo. There simply isn't hardware for that in the phone, neither in 3230 or 6260.

Well put, teura666. Almost exactly if I had said it myself. Wait a minute...! I did say it, didn't I? 😉

Ya thank you for finding time to reply to me. So my assumption is wrong. But you know the original firmware released with my handset by the nokia had many drawbacks and many features were hidden. The music quality from any music player produce very bad quality sound. But now I ve upgraded my firmware. Now the music quality has very good bass. But still it is mono. ITS OK. I dont know why this nokia hidden this quality in that old firmware. So the sound effect mainly depending on the firmware right?
