hi ive just got my n70 and have spent all after noon trying to move all the old txt messages from my 7610 to the n70 - i just cant do it ! ive tried to move the mail folder - and replace the old one but this has not worked, ive tried to use content copier from nokia and that did not work , can someone else help cos im sure other people must have run in to this before, ive tried searching the forums but not found anything really helpfull,
help moving txt messages from 7610
Hi mate i did this the other night... i had trouble using the nokia software on pc to copy them accross, would always crash.. so... i found a way around it... sorry but im not ENTIRELY sure on what i did, BUT im sure what ill talk about will spark it off.. sorry im really mongy today after drinking too much last night but here goes... pretty simple i think :
- take the rsDVmmc card out that you got with the N70.
- put it in the 7610
- then simply move all the txts frmo phone memory to memory card..
- then put card back into n70 and presto!...
OR, i just noticed after doing everything that there is an option on the N70 under tools called TRANSFER, it seems that it can sinc both via bluketooth..
hope that helps.. think thats what i did.. if im talking absolute b0llocks then tell me and ill dig the 7610 out and find out exactly what i did for you
Cheers
ok ive tried to do this but it did not seem to work .... i cant find anything on the n70 called tansfer either ? mine is on o2 - i trid to copy messages to memory card , then changed the card to my other phone and set that to have messages on memory card - but nothing...
ahh sh!tc0ck... thats suprising as im pretty sure thats what i did.. must admit, did take me all of an evening to totally Sync my 7610 to n70... Im on Tmobile and i have "Transfer" within my "tools" folder.... Are you sure you didnt try to use your 7610 memory in your n70 as i think that wouldnt work due to it needing a higher voltage.. you have to use the Dual Voltage card that comes with the N70 ONLY, as that can work at the higher voltage when in the 7610 but also at the lower when back in the N70.. make sense?
Another way of transfering your messages is to use the file transfer app on PC Suite.
You can transfer straight from phone to phone if you can connect both phones at the same time, or just save your messages to your computer in a new folder and then connect your N70 and transfer them back.
Hope this helps.

The easiest way to do this is the transfer application. It should be in Tools, if not have a look on your CD. Unfortunattely its not on the Nokia site that I can see.
Other than that copy files across may work, but the N70 is a slightly different version of S60 and so it may not like having files from an older device.
ive been having the same problem. have tried nokia content copier which doesnt give you the option to select messages folders to copy. ive also tired the transfer program on the phone which again doesn't give you any options for messages.
ive tried copying the messages to the memory card (the dual memory one which comes with the n70) this works but then i cant seem to integrate the messages back onto the phones memory! even when i use FExplorer to copy them!
i'm really at a loss and about to give up! does anybody have any last ideas?! although am very happy with the phone in general!
thanks.
Has anyone tried Rafe's suggestion above regarding the Data Transfer between 2 phones?
This can be accessed via Tools>Data Transfer
If both phones are bluetooth it will transfer the data between the two phones. This worked ok when i tested it earlier.
Hope this helps
