Vodfone Japan - Nokia 6680 can't install anything

Hi all...I love my first Nokia but I have a major problem...

I have searched Google and the forums here and I have reached a stumbling block with my New Nokia 6680 from Vodafone Japan. It does not allow me to install anything.

I first changed the software settings in the app manager

software installation - on
online certif. check - off

I also went into the security certificate management settings of the phone and changed the cerfiticate trust settings to
symbian install - no
internet - yes
app install - yes
online certif check - no

but I still get the
'installation security error unable to install'. I dont think there is anything I have missed since I have followed all that I have been able to find.

Could anyone help?

Much appreciated

I think the Japanese Vodafone KK variants are made so (by request of Vodafone KK) that only Symbian Signed applications can be installed on it, no matter what the settings.

The only way out of that would be to get the phone flashed with a "generic", retail version of the phone software (firmware).

I have a 6630 from Vodafone and can install apps and games. You have to install them manually. You need software for your computer called UnSis, this unpacks the .sis file. Then you can drag and drop the unpacked files into the appropriate place on your memory card.
