An official S60 blog has revealed that S60 version 3 devices will be totally plug and play, in terms of connection through USB. No special drivers needed, meaning that you can connect up to any PC anywhere in the world without having to worry about PC Suite. About time!

That means USB mass storage class support (like the original N-Gage had); nice & good for file transfer, but not to take care of synchronization, managing contacts or messages from the PC, etc. For that sort of thing a PC Suite type of app will still be useful.
Oh indeed. But being able to plug your new smartphone into any PC and be able to transfer images and videos, or to be able to copy on new SIS files, WMA/Ogg/mp3 music tracks or Office documents, etc., without having to sit through half an hour of 'Looking for drivers' will just be sooo nice.

Can if you want. How well does Mac OS handle USB devices? Shouldn't this sort of thing be standard by now?

Mostly, Series 60 devices work fine on a Mac as do UIQ. Just don't mention Series 80 or 90 though.
