Apologies, 'cos I am a bit of a noob with Symbian being a dyed in the wool Microsoft phone OS bod but:
1) I think I am in an area of weak 3G so my connection keeps flipping to GPRS, which will cost me a fortune. Is there anyway to tell the phone to use 3G or nothing?
2) Is there a task manager to shut open apps - I think I saw a post on this but I can't find it now
3) Is the included browser xHTML only? I tried going to www.whatlaptop.co.uk and the page looked dreadful - I swapped option to display original screen and the page had no detail in it and the phone started to crawl. I really need full HTML access and I am sure somebody told me it IS full HTML. Do I need a different browser?
4) Caller ID is not working properly. Some calls are showing up with an ID, others are just showing the number. All contacts were added to the phone by syncing with Outlook but it seems to have created multiple entries for some people - is this the problem?
BTW, it is an Orange N70 in the UK.
1: i dont thing so you can tell it to use 3g & gsm or jus gsm if you have the option in settings
2😛ress & hold the menu key for a few seconds
3: try using the opera browsewr pre-installed
4:cant help you on that sorry
2) Which is the menu key??? Is it the one with 2 arrows on it? If so I only have 'telephone' open which is a worry, if the internet is this slow in displaying a page.
3) Sorry if I am being thick but how do I access Opera? Is it the default application when I hit 'Home' or is there another way to get to it?
I didnt have Opera pre-installed on my N70 either, I downloaded it from the Opera site. Its MUCH better than the generic viewer on the N70.
Im also having the problem of it not showing me caller ids for some people, but showing it for others. Its really starting to annoy me.
yeah the menu key has the square & circle on it with arrows. it only shows telephone because thats the only app that you have running in the background.

It won't cost you any more with the phone switching between 3G and GPRS as the charges are identical, a 3G phone is meant to do this when in low signal area's.
However it will run you battery down faster, as it uses more power continually switching.
