Hi.
I am new in this forum.
I have a Nokia 6630. I recently updated the firmware to V 5.03.08, the latest. After that I installed some themes and they worked. Later I tried to install a theme created with Nokia Theme Studio but i got an error message: "Unable to install. Compatible with Series60SkinsSupport version 0.00". I already tried the light reset (restore factory settings), to no avail. I think that a deep reset can solve the problem. Does anyone know if the deep reset will revert the firmware from the current version to the factory one (2.xx.xx)?
Thank you
Deep reset
A "deep reset" will not revert the firmware to an older version, but clear the phone from all user data (settings, messages, contacts, installed apps, etc.):

In any case, your "Series60SkinsSupport" problem is because you probably tried to install a theme made with Series 60 Theme Studio 2.0 and intended for a newer phone (like the N90). Use themes made with Series 60 Theme Studio 1.2 on the 6630.
Ok, thank you for replying.
You are right. I have tried to install a theme created with Theme Studio 2.0 and it didn't work. After that I tried with 1.2 and it didn't work too, with the error message I wrote above, but the other themes continued to work. Later I found on the internet someone with my same problem who solved it uninstalling all the themes and I did it too. The result: now I can't install themes, even those which worked before. I think I will proceed with the deep reset. Thank you. :shakehand
I formatted the phone and it worked. Starting up it asked me my city, the time and the date and all the settings were restored to defaults. But this didn't solve the problem! I formatted it twice (both with *#7370# and by pressing 3, * and the green key turning it on), but the problem is still there! The only working theme is Nokia, the other (TIM, operator's theme), if I try to select it, the icon in the themes menu (the two masks) changes, but the phone doesn't say "theme applyed" and the v mark remains by the Nokia theme. If I select the Nokia theme it works. Obviously I can't install new themes. ("Unable to install. Compatible with Series60SkinsSupport version 0.00"😉 What should I do? Do I have to bring it to a Nokia center? :frown:
Thanks and excuse me for my bad english.
Check also: menu > Tools > Manager > Options > Settings > Software installation > On.
Thank you, I checked what you said, but it was already set to on. I think the problem is related to themes, not to software installation in general, since even TIM's theme (preinstalled) doesn't work, only Nokia theme. When I received this phone I made a backup on the memory card. If instead of making another backup before resetting the phone I had tried to restore the old backup maybe I would have solved the problem, but now the old backup is lost... :frown:
Thank you anyway.
I think I will open a new thread in Series 60 2.0 Themes section.
I found some files in C: drive created by programs that I had installed before the reset. Probably the reset didn't delete them. Does the format really wipe everything on C:? Is it safe deleting manually everything I can in drive C: and formatting?
A reformat should wipe the C-drive. Don't delete anything from there that you don't know is safe to delete (be especially careful with the \System directory).
Thank you for replying.
If formatting really wipes C:, then I really can't imagine the cause of this problem, since the phone should be as it was when it was new. If you have any ideas please tell me. Thank you anyway.
Actually I was wrong... I found the files left by an application installed before the reset only because after the reset, since it didn't solve the problem, to save time instead of configuring everything again I restored the backup from the memory card. But I forgot about that when I saw those files... :stupid:
Another thing I found out is that renaming (or deleting) C:\System\SKINS\101FD60C\101FD60C.ini this file is created again, but a bit smaller. After doing that, TIM's theme started working again.
I tried to install all of the old themes and I found out that one (only one) still works: WindowsXP theme. I can't guess what this theme has different from the others.
Thank you.
When you reseting phone, you didn't delete anything in memory card, of course i think the problem still there...
Try to format your memory card also, maybe can solve that problem..
Wow, you are right! It was so simple... It started working again after I changed the memory card with another one. I gave my MMC to a friend, but now I fear that he will meet problems like this.
Thank you
