hi
I joined this forum because it has usefull info about jar files.
1st of all, i would like you to speak with all letters and correctly because I'm from a foreign contry and sometimes, the messages get real confusing. 😮
I've downloaded some jar files into my computer. Now, i would like to add them to my N-gage (the old one, not the QD). I don't know how to do it and i ask you to explain it to me very easly and clearly.
*Where should i put this file in my n-gage??
Thnaks for your time:icon14:
Use the "Application Installer" in Nokia PC Suite for N-Gage to install them on the phone.
Or, copy the .jar file to the root/topmost folder (directory) of the memory card, and use the Application Manager on the phone to install it (or a file browser like FExplorer, http://www.gosymbian.com/ to launch the installation).
You can also, send the .jar file over Bluetooth to the phone (it will land in the "Inbox" and when you open the message there, the installation will begin).
Note that the N-Gage may not run all possible .jar files, but only those containing MIDP 1.0/CLDC 1.0 Java applications (so called MIDlets).
the blurtooth thing is out of question cause i can't even find the file on my n-gage.
Tell me more about the "root" thing. And the the FEexplorer. Where should i put on the n-gage??
thx for your help!
When you connect the N-Gage with the supplied USB cable to a PC, the phone's memory card will be visible to the PC as a drive (e.g., "E:", or whatever depending on how many drives you already have).
Copy the installation file to the upper-level folder/directory on the drive representing the card (e.g., to "E:\" so that the file is "E:\java-app.jar"😉.
Then it should be visible in the "Manager" app and you can install it (after the installation completes, it should be visible in the phone menu (under "Apps" for Java programs and for others in the main menu).
FExplorer is a file browser/manager (something like Windows Explorer, but for phones). You can download and install it on the phone (in the same way as you'd install the .jar files).
thanks for your help
i was confusing the app manager of the menu with the app manager of the folder "TOOLS".
thanks for your help😉
