Using .ogg on SX1

I've just installed my ogg player (with the iPogg skin) onto my shiny new SX1, so I'd now like to fill up the MMC card with music.

Can anyone recommend a programme for XP which would act in a similar way to Windows Media Player, but for .ogg files? It might sound crazy, but is there anything which will allow you to rip and normalise to .ogg at a low bit rate and then act as a library for the .ogg files? ... oh, and preferably as freeware - I know, I just want everything on a plate and for free. I've tried out quite a few ogg rippers, but I can't seem to find anything to fit the bill.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know what exactly Windows Media Player can do - but I use dBpowerAMP http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm & the seperately available occ codec for converting mp3s to ogg vorbis files, so that I can fit more on my rather small MMC. It's freeware, can convert multiple directories at once and has an audio cd input feature.

Many thanks for that - I have downloaded the free version of dbpowerAMP and that is great for ripping my CDs to .ogg at the bit rate I wanted etc. and that effectively answers my question.

However, the icing on the cake would be if there is a programme which will act as a library and a player for the .ogg files (that's what Windows Media Player does - it rips CDs, stores the files in a library and acts as a general purpose player).

I thought I had found a solution when I found a codec which was supposed to plug into Windows Media Player to allow it to recognise .ogg files, but alas my skills on the computer are insufficient to make it work (and I suspect it was so that WMP would play .ogg video or streaming or whatever, and not .ogg files stored on the computer).

Thanks again

Hello,
oggplay is really nice stuff. Ogg files are smaller and has the same quality. I suggest you the "dBpowerAMP Music Converter" for converting the ogg files (96Kbps,44100Hz,Stereo)-this is the best config. For playing ogg on WinXP I suggest Foobarpin my opinion is better than the winamp.
