im using the tmobile firmware for september 2005, its seems fine but i hate the annoying toolbar at the top of the main screen, is there anyway to get rid of this, also is there anyway to disable the auto light sensor within the firmware?
apart from that, amazing phone,
p.s. also any way i could debrand this? i stay in edinburgh,
p.p.s if i took it to a local servic centre, could they upgrade the firmware, even though its tmobile default firmware, and how long would this take ? would i get charged ?

A firmware updating procedure takes less than 10 minutes, if everything is already set up correctly to do the updating. A service centre's work queue may allow them to do it while you wait, or they will tell you when they can do it and when you can pick up the phone (in the worst case it might mean a long time, especially if they don't have the skills or equipment and have to send it somewhere for the updating).
