PDF problem

I cannot display properly most PDF documents with my 9500:

1. When the PDF file is "home made" (with PDF Creator or OpenOffice for example), characters are flipped or simply unreadable.

2. If the PDF document entails color graphics, Adobe Reader says there is no sufficient memory to open it, even for small documents.

(Adobe Reader v.1.1. build 08202004)

Any idea?

I use pdfcamp printer to convert PC files to pdf. When these are transferred to the 9500 most of the characters display OK. Only the occasional character is mucked up. I have seen the same problem when I print homemade pdf files to my Brother printer.

I only use pdf files occasionally on my 9500 as they are so slow and difficult to read on the 9500. My preferred reading solution on the 9500 is MobiReader as I find it easy to convert most files and they display much faster and neater looking than the pdf files.

Martin

I agree (of course) for PDF rendering on Communicators.
However, Mobipocket Creator did not convince me at all: it's far from cheap and PRC conversion is very poor when the original document is not pure text.

So far, the only acceptable solution (far from perfect, though) appears to be HTML documents.

I am impatient to discover OpenDocument implementation on Symbian systems.

I frequently convert quite complicated MS Word documents including tables and images to Mobipocket format using the free MobiPocket Web Companion. Make sure you get the 4.8 version and not 4.9 version as the Publish button does not work properly on the 4.9 version. You do not need to get Mobipocket Creator.

I just save the Word doc as .htm file and MobiPocket Web Companion converts any html files to .prc Hyperlinks, tables and images are converted to the .prc file and the .prc file is much faster to navigate than the .pdf file.

Martin

Thanks. Probably I am blind or so, but I never found it... Perhaps you remember where you downloaded it?
