I'm sure if you knew you'd say but - if you don't ask, you don't get!
Anyone heard anything more "firm" about availability in the UK :turn-l:

But all the units that arrive in 'the next few days' have been pre-sold for months.....Mid January is the best bet, but I haven't heard an exact date as yet.
To be honest I'd wait till mid Jan/feb for the next revision of the OS (which I'm sure will happen). If you are desperate for one, Metrowerks can provide one with the SK and lots of nice bags and goodies for around 900. Okay, not the cheapest, but they are official, not grey imports from Italy or Hong Kong...

I doubt that in mid-january you can get your hands on one as well if you've not pre-ordered then also, as I guess more and more pre-orders are being made... General availability? Guess march....

They will be available in regular phone shops around mid-january, Expansis will probably still have a backlog, but you shouldn't have any problems starting a new contract at a Carphone Warehouse or simlar, as they don't do back orders as a general rule, as you get the phone at the time of signing a new contract or renewing an old one.
:P 😃
Are you sure?? Here in The Netherlands you can go to a shop and ask them if they can hold one back for you and give you a call as soon as they get them, I've done that several times (first with my Siemens SL45, later with my N7210 (to get something keeping me sweet waiting for the P800)).
When I went to my local dealer last week they said they had a waiting list of 22 for the P800. Problem is that is not an agreement to buy, so some won't be sold, but some surely will.....
I don't want to buy a sim-free P800, I will be moving contract from Voafone to Orange...I have asked LOADS of phone retailers if they can reserve one for me, and as a genral rule in the UK they say no.
I did manage to persuade my local mobile shop to put one aside for me a few weeks ago.
The reason nobody knows a firm date when it is out is because the UK networks are still testing it, so there is still not January for sure....it will be the first network to pass it, could be out any time really.

Do all the networks test every phone that comes out in the UK?
Orange is the most rigorous tester, & with badging, packaging etc it will probably be avail from them in Feb/March.
whats the size of this in comparison to the 7650?
All reviews seem to say that this fone is BIG!

Just a little bigger than the 7650 (When closed).
Here as a comparison between the P800 and 9210 (Which is BIG) :P
Yes, all network will have to test to make sure the phone works with all of the Networks features (GPRS, High Speed data..etc.)

Have a look at the follwoing review. On Page 6 of the review there are some good shots with other phones to compare sizes.

Just interested in why a sim-free wouldn't work for you. As an unapologetic colonial I spend a lot of time in the UK roaming on my host country sim. Seems to be no problem ...justs switches to whichever provider has strongest signal...although I often have to manually search if I want to send emails. Is there expected to be a huge difference in price? I guess if you have no intention to roam with the beast the cost saving might be worth the wait?

Maybe I'm crazy, but what "following review" are you talking about????

The reason I don't want to buy one sim free is that my 12 month contract with Vodafone has just ran out 2 months ago which means, I will be able to get the phone @ half the price that I would be sim free, plus I want to move from Vodafone to Orange as Orange do high speed data, and seem to have better price plans.
Best review I have found for the P800 is at

Does anyone know of a better one?
The link to the review I posted above is only part one of three. The other two parts are at...
