Hi,
I have written a server (.EXE) to control the backlight from MIDP Java. The
server is accompanied with a recognizer (.MDL) to auto start the server
after booting the device. Thus I have a SIS file containing two Open File
entries (.EXE and .MDL) and a Execute entry (the server). We discovered that
on e.g. N70 you can make a setting to prevent that unsigned software is
installed.
Therefore we will sign the SIS file. Now the software should run at a
minimum on all Series 60 2nd Edition phone, but better on all Symbian
phones. How can I arrange for this ? When I look at the submission forms for
Symbian Signed they ask you to specify a phone model to test against. What
does this mean ? Here is the options ? Which one does apply ?
1) The application is tested e.g. against Nokia 6600 and will only
run/install on this specific phone model.
2) The application is tested e.g. against Nokia 6600 and will run/install on
all phones which are compatible to Nokia 6600 (thus minimum Series 60 2nd
edition ?). To rephrase it will probably run/install on other phones, but
this is not guaranteed by the test house ?
Well, would be appreciated if someone can shine a light on this issue on
short term.
Many thanks,
Rene Heuven

You can tell them a test device to use, the one you are sure about. Once
signed and if your server/mdl is built and packaged correctly it will
run on all devices or at least on all series 60 devices you have tested
against.
AMK
Good - at I expected. Thanks for the quick confirmation!
