N70 firmware upgrade..did they mess up??

Hello

I recently purchased an unlocked n70 (on Orange previously) and sent it to fonemenders(fonemenders.ie) for a firmware upgrade. i was told that the latest update was version 4 and that the mob could be upgraded. a few hours later, i was informed that the phone went blank during the process and needed to be sent to their service center, and that it mite take a week to get it fixed. as far as i know, the update on n70 is currently on ver 3.0546.2.3. what i think mite have happened was that they messed up(coz they admitted it was the 1st time on an n70) and tried the 6680 update, which i think is on ver 4.04.07. any chance that i'll get the phone back in one piece?? cheers and thanks in advance.

I've heard some nasty stories about N70s crashing while updating to generic firmware from the Orange branded firmware. I think it's to do with a SPN (sales pack number) lock which either Nokia or Orange have put on some firmwares.

Having said that, I had my N70 upgraded to generic from an Orange firmware with no trouble what so ever.

BTW, I think that 3.0546 is the latest N70 firmware.
