I heard the max volume on N70 thorugh included headset was pretty low?
Is this true? Are there any 3rd party mp3 player application which would max the volume through included stereo headset a little more?
If not, then i will have to get a W900i which will be more expensive.
I need your suggestion guys, thanks.
The volume is perfectly acceptable for me. At its loadest settings its drowns out any outside noise such as talking or traffic, so i dont see how much louder anyone would want/need it.
However, i have brought a popport--3.5inch headphone jack so that i can use normal headphones on my phone, and this has reduced the volume a little, so i think its down to the headphone/headset used and not the phone.
Well,
I am using the PowerMP3 Player for S60 which I has an editable equalizer where I also can adjust gain in volume in addition to editing the equalizer itself. I am using the KOSS PortaPRO headset. This combination gives me just AWESOME audio quality!!!!
My sister is using an SE W800i, and both she and I agree that my Nokia N70 has better audio quality than it, even with the embedded music-player and embedded headset!! I have also compared the N70 to a Creatice Muvo MP3 player and a Sony NW-E505 MP3 player. The N70 has a little louder sound than the Creative, and comparable sound level as the Sony MP3 player.
Also remember, the Nokia N70 is not just a mobile phone, but a smartphone. There will always be thousands of 3'rd party software solutions e.g music players for it, unlike the SW W800i / SE W900i where you will have to cope with the one embedded in the phone!
Just be aware, to able to use standard 3.5mm headsets you need to buy an adapter (AD-15) or solder a solution yourself (like I did 😉...
The decision is yours!
I already have Nokia's Ad15. my brother used it with his 6630.
I also own K750i and E398 so you can see i'm into music, i hate all mp3 players like Ipods, they take up the size of a mobile or even more and do only one thing. But it was time i went Symbian with a combination of music.
And now N70 is mine!
Thanks a lot guys! I'll be regualr here once i get my N70 😊
Params7 - be interesting to see how you get on. There's a few music related articles on the content part of the site you might be interested in.
I'm not a music nut, but I do think music playing is one of my favourite uses of the phone. Sound has always been good for me (though I don't have a great ear for quality).
messus,
What's the sound volume like at maximum setting?
I'm concerned that volume may be low considering that the KOSS PortaPRO's impedance is 60 Ohms.

The sound volume at maximum setting is louder than my Creative Muvo MP3
player with standard music player in the phone. If I use for example the
PowerMP3 player which has an equalizer and gain control I am able to
increase the volume even more, with little or no distortion..
Don't know if there's a way to measure the volume output!??
Have compared the audio volume output with the KOSS PortaPro at standard
settings with the standard music player in the phone against a Nokia 6230i,
and there is noticably richer and louder sound from the N70.
I accidentially went into a HI-FI store here in Norway (HI-FI Klubben), same
as in Sweden I think, and they were really amazed by the sound-quality
from my N70 and the KOSS PortaPro. They weren't aware that a mobile
phone could sound that good...
Still this is only my experience. If you are an audio freak (audiophile) this
may still not be good enough for your ears!
But I can guarantee you that the N70 has at least as good sound as the
SE W800/900.
