N70 - Random Ringtones...

18 replies · 5,049 views · Started 31 January 2006

Guys,

Wonder if you can help me. I recently upgraded to a N70 on Orange, as you can imagine I was quick to change from the default Nokia Tune ringtone to one of the other built in tones.

Whilst more often than not this works fine it occasionally plays the lovely Nokia Tune instead of the one I have chosen. I've noticed that it mainly does that after i've received a missed call......

I'm running on V 2.0537.1.7

Has anyone else seen this sort of problem?

Thanks,

Matt.

You could try this "Nokia N70 Ring Tone patch file" in the meanwhile:

n/a i think hes already got the patch since his phone does ring however he doesnt like the fact that it plays the nokia tune instead of his chosen selection

.... and the phone after sometime of use (more or less two weeks) starts playing the Nokia tune in some occasions instead of the ringtone Ive chosen. Ive noticed that (I have two simcards each one from differents operators here in my country) that when I chance the simcard, the information of the previous SIM that was in the phone is gone (call log - missed calls, dialed calls, received calls) also the messages receipts; I also noticed that the phone gets faster after the SIMs change and keeps playing the ringtone I set and after 2 weeks of use, the history begin as I said above.

Try reducing the log duration/length & see what happens. I've read reports of people saying it helps. Don't know what the true connection is, though, if so.

its supposed to play the nokia tune, their isnt a fix for it not to play the nokia tune.when your phone plays the nokia tune the ram resources are drained such that if it ddint play the nokia tune,no tune would be played,it could keep trying to play your selected ringtone but that could resort if your phone freezing or certain apps closing or any thing else
p.s. are you on orange?do you have an orange n70?

i think your phone gets faster due to the restart of the phone freeing up all memory resoruces kinda like the compress memory function in some apps.
you lose all your call logs & stuff becauswe you took the battery out.
dont know how to explain your 2 wk cycle unless you dont turn your phone off:con?

Yes, it is a weird thing this, I do not know the cause of it, any way I am very happy with my phone ( its a solid rock) I hope with time, this problem disappear. And thanks a lot for your comments 😊

Set your N70's Call log to just 1 day instead of the default 30 days and this should sort your random Nokia tune ringtone problem. Not a true fix but a good workaround until you can get your phone's firmware updated.

I,ve done what you said and it seems that the problem its gone, thanks again. This is a kind of weird thing, whats the log got to do with the ringtone? :con? As per I said; doing what you said, it keeps playing the ringtone I chosen insted of nokia tune. 😊

From what I have read a 30 day log sucks up alot of ram such that the phone then has problems loading and playing your desired ringtone so it randomly defaults to the Nokia tone stored in the phone's ROM. I remember when I had my 7650 many moons ago people complained that the phone was very slow and one of the fixes was to reduce the call log from 30 days to 1 day. Strange how little has changed in 4 or so years.

P.S. listen to N/A 😉

I am located in the Philippines. This is the same issue with my 9500 and Nokia seems unable to find a fix to solve this bug.

Menu -> Log -> Options -> Settings -> Log duration

by default it's set at 30 days, you get 4 choices:

No Log
1 day
10 days
30 days

Choose 1 day and your ringtone blues should be over.
