Q. I've just started using a Symbian-based smartphone with a Vodafone Pay As You Go SIM card, but I'm having problems with sending email. I'm able to collect email perfectly but when I try and reply and get errors every time. Any ideas?

Hi,

It's most likely that your email provider, especially if they are an ISP) checks whether mail being sent through their servers are actually originating from their network, i.e. if you are connecting through their service.

To get around this all you have to do is specify the outgoing mail server of your airtime provider. This would be Vodafone's smtp server. These settings for most uk networks can be found here http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

I use an ntlworld email address my incoming mailserver is specified as pop.ntlworld.com but my outgoing mailserver is specified as smtp.o2.co.uk

This works fine for me.

If this does not help then please post the error message and I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
