How can I install mainstream UIQ software onto the Motorola A1000?

Q. I notice that there is now Route 66 GPS software for the Symbian UIQ platform. I also read that it will work with the Motorola A1000, even though it's designed for the Sony Ericsson P910. Could you tell me how this is possible as the software is supplied on Memory Stick? Also, how do I download software to my A1000? I have been downloading freeware via Bluetooth. But when I come to open it, the phone tells me there is no program to open the attempted installation.
