TomTom on Motorola a925/a925

Hey,

i've been trying several navigation/gps software packages

-nhgps: nice, but useless for navigation
-wayfinder: seems to work, but i couldnt get it to download maps? needs gprs anyway, if it works

and last but not least:
-tomtom navigator

that last one is the best solution, in my opinion.
works nicely too, with one exception: voice guidance isnt working

when clicking "test" in voice selection, it works fine. but in an actual route (or route demo), it says one sentence and then shuts up. only if you press the phone's volume-up button, the next sentence will be said, but quiet again after that.

tried several things to fix it:
-copying several files from system and/or tomtom map to the phone memory, instead of just on the memory card
-switched to a SD card with faster read/write speed
-copied voice files from memorycard to phone memory

sadly nothing helped. i didnt contact tomtom, as the a920/a925 isnt officially supported (at least, i cant find it anywhere on their site)

anyone any ideas why voice directions are behaving this weird?
simply incomaptibility? any other clues? or ideas?

Jarl

Finaly they released a real GPS software for this cell phone, which, may I repeat, is one the the best quality/price rate ever seen for a cell phone.

I will test tomtom as soon as I can.

other's feedbacks are welcome.

What is the version of tomtom that i've installed?

Are you using the integrated GPS antenna or a bluetooth one?

Thanks

hi,

i have a moto a925 with tomtom installed, everything working except the sound which was stated in post above..

my question is also how did you connect the internal agps or have you used a bluetooth gps ?

thankyou

thankyou for the quick reply and as i though. ( just bought 1)

one last question have you fixed the problem with the voice not working correctly ?

i have the same problem. Works on first direction then to continue listen must press volume.

any help ?

Thankyou

nope, didnt have any brilliant idea to try after my first post, thats why i posted it 😊

if i ever find a solution i'll post it here.

Hi J,

i'm using moto a925 with firmware rel 35.80.61 GeneriX - just installed and nothing. do you know of anyother type firmware like different os's that i can try to see if this problem with sound can be resolved ?

Regards
Vas

p.s. any other sujestions on trying to get sound working ?

my phone had rel 35.80.60 when i got it, upgrade to rel 35.80.61 didnt help either. and that was the last thing i could think of to fix the sound problem.

so i'm as clueless as you are. like i said, i will post if i do find something, and i didnt yet, so asking is kinda pointless 😊

this might sound a little over the top but i have emailed the people who have been releasing generix rel 35.80.61 to see if they can fix the problem

i have spent alot of time looking on the net about this problem and sofar i have heard it works perfeclty on a moto a1000.

hence being i have explained the problem to these people and have offered to pay for there service so the sound will work correclty with a925.

if they can manage to fix this problem i will go one step further and ask them if it is able for tomtom mobile to use internal gps, either to make internal gps to emulate bluetooth gps or to modify tomtom.app to use the internal gps.

so fingers crossed and lets see how much it'll cost me.

Regards
Vas

i doubt

a) tomtom will be interested to do work for a phone thats not widely used
b) you have the money to be able to convince them

i dont care too much about the internal gps, but if just sound would work....

not talking about tomtom doing these mods

talking about the people who made the generix firmware for our phones

still awaiting there reply..

if they can do the moto firmware they might be able to do tomtom also

(nothing to do with tomtom itself)

aha.

well, in the meantime i've found that route 66 (uiq ofcourse, 2006 version) does work on this phone. with voice directions and everything.
